Handel's Homemade Ice Cream — Restaurant in Clemson

My friends and I visited Handel’s on August 2nd which was a Friday evening. We have always had great ice cream and good service here and we were looking forward to it. The young man who took our order was friendly and fun to talk to. However, most of us ordered medium bowls. In the past, and we’ve been here numerous times, the portions were proportionate to the price. We were given very small bowls of ice cream, definitely not worth the money spent. When we asked one of the girls if our bowls were indeed mediums and explained that we had significantly more ice cream in the past with the same order, she was rude and walked away with no explanation. One of my friends then asked another girl if the bowls were medium and she said that they did indeed look small but it was busy and she didn’t have time to fix the portion size. I don't normally had out 5 star ratings because, I have high standards when it comes to food. But! This was an automatic 5 star from me. I grew up eating Handles Ice Cream, and they remain one of my favorite Hard Serve/Traditional Ice Cream shops, ever. I will be making the 45 min. drive to come back. Speaking from experience, anything offered from their HUGE selection of flavors is going to be great. The hardest decision you'll have, is choosing your favorite and how you want it. This specific location did not disappoint. Their portion sizes are generous, and it tasted just like the spots it originated from. The facility itself was spotless, and the staff were Super friendly. I'm honestly rethinking this post because once the word gets out, this place will be packed. If you haven't been here, and were relying on the store bought traditional Ice Creams, you're missing out. This experience has nothing to do with the ice cream served. The ice cream was delicious the shop was clean. There were two people working i assumed the owners based off the interaction. It was not a welcoming environment even though we were the only three when entering the shop. I tried pleasantries and small talk.The gentlemen attempted to be friendly. The female was forced and barley cracked a smile.Her face was just judgment and stares.Other customers that entered were more friendly and welcoming. We even got ice cream to go after original purchase and tip she was no more friendly. Unfortunately no matter how good the ice cream was we will never return.
