Sharing online after their response to private msg was a laughing emoji I wanted to share about our experience last night. I had called ahead to see if reservations were needed and was told that there was no call ahead or reservations accepted. We got there and was told that it would be about an hour and half, or we could split up our party of 7 and it would be about 30 minutes. This was confusing as there were many empty tables near each other so it did not appear that it would have been difficult to pull 2 together instead of splitting parties. We said that we would wait to sit together as there was not that many people there physically waiting for tables and felt that there was no way it could take that long. We asked if we could sit outside and was told that they were not seating any tables outside. We asked if we could order some appetizers and drinks and take them to a table outside in order for the 3 kids to be able to eat something to tide them over to dinner. was told this was fine. After a 1 hr and 30 minutes, we noticed that there were 3-4 staff members setting up a 20+ table top outside. I took our empty appetizer plates inside to the host stand to clean up after ourselves as well as to inquire about table. I was told to take the plates to the bar and I felt awkward about this as I did not quite know where to place them on the bar. Then when I asked about how much longer we would possibly be waiting (and once again there were many tables empty but needed to be bussed and there were now 3-4 staff members taking silverware and waters to set the huge table outside for a group of people that got there an hour after us and did not have all of their party members there) and was told that there were tables that would have to be cleaned and that the host would have to find a server who would be willing to take us. Needless to say, we were being patient thinking that it was a staffing issue but when there appear to be at least 6 servers and now 3 of them have been sent to set up the large party...I have to think that is not the issue. I am thinking that then maybe the BOH is short staffed so once again attempting to give grace. But we later noticed how quickly the outside table was getting their food. We get our food and were disappointed. The cajundillas were missing the chicken and the alfredo was lackluster but everyone was starving. But my biggest complaint besides the wait (and the belief that the large (20+) group was given precedence) was the customer service. We were made to feel like an imposition. We went and stayed because the kids wanted to go and try out "Dabo's place" We could overlook the quality of the food and consider giving the restaurant a second chance, but we will not return because of the...
Read moreThis was our 3rd time our family dined in at Walk-On's since it opened. The first time we went around Christmas, it might have been the best meal any of us have ever had! We could not stop raving about it the entire night, and even into the next day. I had the lemon butter chicken. We were told we'd have over an hour long wait and ended up being seated early. We thought either way it was worth the wait. We went again as a family at the beginning of May and it was a similar experience. This time we had a vegetarian with us so it was really wonderful to see the option for a veggie burger. I had the lemon butter chicken again, so did my sister, and it was just as delicious as ever. We had to wait again, but everyone else also raved about their meals so we'd still say it was worth the wait. Yesterday evening our dad was in town, and since this restaurant is all we've talked about since our first time, we decided to take him! We went at 8:30 on a Sunday (after students are gone for the summer) and were told it would still be a 30 min wait unless we wanted to eat outside, which we opted to do. Our dad ordered the steak, my sister and I ordered the lemon butter chicken again. We also had a vegetarian with us again. Unfortunately, our experience this time was quite the disappointment. Our dad's steak was barely cooked, and our lemon butter chicken was...spicy. As if we both ordered some sort of cajun chicken. It was not lemon butter chicken at all. And the veggie burger had been removed from the menu, leaving "Pasta Alfredo" as the only remotely vegetarian option on the entire menu. It was incredibly disappointing to see such a shift in the quality of the restaurant so quickly. I can only hope that this is just a fluke, that there will be more consideration of different dietary restrictions in the future, and maybe the cook was just having an off night. I would hate to not be able to eat here with our...
Read moreWow!!! This place is awesome! You'll got to come down here and try this! My friend and I came in there on a bust night last week and there was a bit of a wait but was offered by the hostess to sit at bar with no wait we took it! I wish I could remember the bartenders name cause she was super efficient and very sweet even though she was really busy! As busy as she was she didnt seem to ever be to distracted to see if we needed anything. She was great! First of all for being a busy night I was surprised it only took a typical amount of time to get our food....I am a waiter myself, and pleasently surprised. Well, first of all we got apps my friend got what seemed like gumbo but I'm sure I'm getting that wrong I think it had duck and sausage in it. Forgive me if I got that wrong. I did not have that, all though I did order the fresh Ahi Tuna with this incredible avocado mango slaw which I could of eaten that by itself, so good! I ordered The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with waffle fries immediately after ordering it said to myself why did I order a buffalo chicken sandwich at a place with all these great menu items......then I just had say to myself (easy tiger) I can order something different next time. Well without disappointment the food came! Massive sandwich and absolute perfect waffle fries.....Well, enough talking about it...it's making me hungry. I cannot wait till I go again! Thanks for the...
