Kang's Boba House in Cleveland, TN: A Novelty Worth Trying, But Not Quite a Regular Lunch Spot

In a world brimming with culinary adventures, Kang's Boba House stands out as a unique novelty that beckons those with a penchant for unconventional flavors and daring taste buds. Tucked away discreetly, this establishment has captured the attention of locals and curious food enthusiasts alike. However, before you rush to embark on this gastronomic journey, there are some key points to consider.

First and foremost, it's imperative to note that Kang's Boba House is exclusively geared towards pickup orders. For those seeking a cozy dine-in experience or an outdoor feast, you might be disappointed to learn that no seating, neither inside nor outside, is available. The emphasis here is solely on the culinary creations and not the ambiance.

Placing your order demands a digital touch, as the restaurant exclusively operates through online orders and payments. A reminder: you won't be able to saunter in and place an order in person, so make sure your smartphone is fully charged before setting your sights on a boba adventure.

Now, let's delve into the crux of the matter – the food. Kang's Boba House showcases an array of delectable offerings, with their star attraction being the bowls of ramen. For many, the flavors are a departure from the norm, a whimsical twist that tantalizes the taste buds. However, it's essential to weigh the novelty against the price tag, which often falls within the range of 10 to 20 dollars for a bowl. While the experience might merit an occasional indulgence, some patrons might find it a bit steep for a regular lunch option.

The tea, often a crucial component of any boba house, is where Kang's holds a steady middle ground. Neither remarkable nor disappointing, the tea offerings maintain a delicate balance between sips of satisfaction and subtlety.

One quirk that has raised a few eyebrows is the establishment's solicitation of tips. Given the absence of a traditional dine-in experience and the requirement for prepayment online, the logic behind this appeal remains puzzling. Many patrons might find themselves scratching their heads as they ponder the propriety of leaving a tip under these circumstances.

In conclusion, Kang's Boba House is an intriguing addition to Cleveland's culinary landscape. Its offbeat approach to dining, emphasis on pickup orders, and tantalizingly novel dishes make it a destination for the curious and the daring. However, it might not be everyone's go-to lunch spot, particularly when considering the price range and the absence of a well-defined tea experience. As you contemplate your next gastronomic escapade, remember that Kang's Boba House is a temporary detour from the norm, beckoning you to explore the boundaries of your taste...

Was very excited to try this place for my birthday and brought my family. It's a cozy place that's small, not many seats, and a bit plain. It smells a bit strange at first but I think it's just the broths cooking. Parking can be iffy too. The staff was very, very friendly and seemed really passionate about what they're doing. I love that! The food was quite expensive, probably $60 for 4 ramens, and 2 bubble tea. It was my first time ever trying "authentic" ramen and while I did like it, I think I would have preferred a different combination of ingredients. The peach tea with popping pearls was tasty but I think the popping pearls were a little odd to me. A fun experience nonetheless! A lot of people were coming in so it seems popular. The seating can be awkward, we were right by the restroom and pick up counter... it's just a house after all. The food comes up quick, you don't have to wait long and is fresh and hot. If you want a to go container it will cost you 25 cents, something my family wasn't too keen on having just paid a ton for the food. I will say it was an experience and something new to me so I enjoyed it for that. Being so expensive I don't think I can come back except for a special treat but I look forward to trying...

When you walk in, the space is open and bright with crisp white walls and high ceilings. It’s an older house so there’s character to be seen for sure.

The staff was friendly and patient with my questions and generous with her recommendation of the Matcha Boba tea with a milk-base. It was delicious.

I was a bit confused when I ordered, I thought the “salt” ramen was the type of ramen I would be getting. I ordered that with an extra egg (for extra protein since I wasn’t getting pork) and spicy, because...yummm, duh! However, when I received my order it had the pork. I asked for a whole new batch and she was super understanding and even thanked me simply for letting her know.

The atmosphere was calm and peaceful with sweet jazz in the background, bouncing from room to room. There was a “singles sitting area.” Though I thought was odd, I found myself content in the space.

Everything about the experience was great, except for the amount of waste at the end of my meal. I’d love to see cloth napkins or perhaps paper straws/cups for the boba tea. #savetheturtles

I will be back again and bring more folks with...

My son was thrilled to find this place!! It’s definitely NOT the ramen that kept you from starving in college. The portion size is HUGE and so warm and filling, so come hungry. It’s the 1st place I’ve been to that doesn’t have “to go” containers and they don’t offer “take out”. Their goal, with that, is to ensure your ramen is always hot & fresh. However, they don’t mind you bringing a container with you. They offer different broths and protein choices, including veggie broth and tofu. They have a big variety of boba tea flavors and bottles of Ramune soda. If you’re not hip on either one of those, you may want to bring a water or soda with you. The lack of drink options and “to go” containers are minuscule once you’ve had your 1st bowl of ramen, I promise. I just think it’s important to know up front. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as we have!! ❤️ ******They have added a neat little section of Japanese snacks and different flavors of Ramune soda. My son thinks pushing the marble down into his drink is just the neatest thing, lol.

This was our first time here and we were surprised to find out that it was just take out only. We just ordered the boba drinks. I got the regular Milk Tea with boba. Usually I don't like very sweet milk teas so I asked for it to less sweetened and I was pleasantly surprised at how they came through. For me, drink flavor was pretty good but the boba consistency was tough to chew. I think the boba pearls were just sitting out in the cold and not kept warm. We had to go inside to pick up our orders and although bare and empty, I thought the inside was really cute as well as the building's exterior. The boba was a 3.5/5 for me, mostly because of the boba texture and consistency. But other than that, I'd come back to try their ramen. I looked on their menu and saw that they had variety and veggie options which is nice because I'm used to only seeing pork broth as the only option for ramen.

Went to visit on its debut day and I found the place to be very quaint and homey, and an opportunity to try ramen in a different style I was used to as well as actual bubble tea. The prices are definitely fair to the quality of the ramen and drinks you get there, and there are several options which open the doors for multiple visits. Would recommend calling ahead as space is limited and it's first come first serve, so make sure to check first before making the trip during a time it might be potentially busy. Overall loved the experience and looking forward to see it grow!
