We had brunch at Lucky's Cafe on Sunday April 14, 2024. I have so many things to say about this place, so let's just start at the beginning. We found street parking right out front. There is not a designated parking lot. For a party of two, we were quoted a 40 minute wait. After only about 15 minutes, we got a call that our table was ready. We were seated at a table right next to the kitchen door which was a bit chaotic, but worked fine for our party. Our waitress was very attentive and quickly got our drink orders. I ordered a Thai iced tea and Kevin got an iced Lucky's latte. Both very good but nothing special. For our meals we ordered the biscuits and the shipwreck. Seasonal vegetables in the shipwreck included bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Very generous portions and delicious. The fresh fruit side with the shipwreck consisted of half a strawberry, slice of pineapple, and wedge of orange. Seems like not much, but was the perfect amount of a refreshing sweet bite after the large plate of everything else. On the table was a house made sweet and smoky hot sauce that I used on every bite of the shipwreck. So delicious. Saved my last piece of toast to eat with their house made blackberry/raspberry/grape jam. Incredible. Included large pieces of fruit, which I love in a fresh jam. And I haven't even mentioned the pecan bacon*. After my first bite, I was thanking our waitress for bringing it up and telling us about it. Definitely would normally overlook getting something like that as a side dish. There are also several vegetarian options on the menu, with one dish able to be made vegan by getting the toast with no butter. We interacted with several staff members at different phases of our meal. Everyone from the hostess, to the barista, our waitress, and the other servers helping to run food/clear plates was abundantly friendly and helpful. One waiter passing by noticed us looking at the art above our table, which was an original painting from a local artist, and told us some interesting facts about the piece. Felt like a true collaborative team working to make the best experience for all guests. Overall, service was incredible and food was delicious. The only reason I am knocking one star off "atmosphere" is due to the fact that this place is not accessible for people in wheelchairs/other disabilities. You have to walk up a step just to get in the front door, and the entryway is so cramped with a pasty/coffee counter plus the host stand. The aisles are very narrow and people are constantly getting in each other's way. There is also only one single-use bathroom. Everything was just fine for us, but definitely something to be aware of if you are planning a trip here! *Pecan bacon comes with 3 pieces, but I got too excited as soon as the plate came out!
Want to try: cinnamon roll,...
Read moreThis is heartbreaking to leave this review I love Luckys but Luckys doesn’t love us . They have Great quality food but there was an issue they could have handled a little bit better on their end. My boyfriend and I have attended luckys a couple times. One time he swiped with his back card and there system crashed there system not his card . We went back 4 more times the first 3 we just used a different card because they asked us to because they remembered our faces they watch you on camera coming through the door and they have a manger to do walk through on the floor as she type and communicate with other mangers and hire up. The 4th time which was my birthday Jan 3 2000 I turned 25 I wanted brunch luckys food is so wonderful and fresh it. We were seated but our waiter gave us a stank attitude and then took alday with our order that didn’t stop us we was still having a good time doing our food reviews on tik tok . Which I didn’t post because I am not into bashing business but I did have some reviews get over 1 million watches . Then when it was time to pay the waiter said we had to pay in cash we ask why he quote said “my manger said one time you guys card messed up our machine so we can only take cash from you guys , they told y’all that before “. Remind we have ate there 3 times before with a different card no problem so I asked could I speak to the manger because I saw her out in the floor looking at us prior before . He gets her she said we need to pay in cash we explained ti her that wasn’t our fault and that we don’t carry cash we could just pay with our card and not come back again she continues to say no we can’t use the card machine because it’s the holidays and they can’t afford a outage again . Now if you saw us through the door and wait on our food why would you let us know . So my boyfriend asked we do Apple Pay she said that’s fine . Like really that’s fine because Apple Pay is paying with a card but through the phone not the card it’s still paying with card that did not make any sense . I was so frustrated and beyond embarrassed. I work hard for my money and I barley have time to go to brunch and do these things. I said even if you guys h don’t trust his cards which he had 3 I have cards also . It wasn’t like we wasn’t trying to pay. I literally cried and left and said I’m never going back and wouldn’t introduce no one to go there anymore because luckys was my top recommendation to anyone . The food was fresh and I love the aesthetics But I will not be treat that ever again and be put on the spot in front of others when I know I can cover myself...

we were seated after about 30 min, which was no problem. The seats are close together, I had to wait for a table to leave to go to the bathroom. And it is LOUD. SO LOUD in here. If you’re claustrophobic this is not the place for you.
It was almost 30 minutes before our order was taken for food and drinks. Which, they’re busy, we get that. But they messed up our order “mix up in the kitchen” and our food was delayed. They “mixed up” my drink so that was delayed. It took me 50 minutes to get a latte. 50 MINUTES FROM WHEN WE SAT DOWN. Our food was about an hour. 4 other tables were sat, got their food, paid, and left before we got our food. Again, we understand busy, but they “mixed up” EVERYTHING about our order except my husband’s drink.
The food wasn’t worth the wait or hassle. We got the Mac and cheese, which was dry and had very little of the “brioche bread crumbs.” The pasta was so undercooked it was hard to chew. We added bacon, and there were just a few pieces. The flavor was nothing special.
My Reuben was mediocre for a Reuben. The beef didn’t have much flavor. It was no better than any standard Reuben you get anywhere else. The dressing comes on the side and is not enough for both halves of the sandwich. I asked for another dressing and was charged 50 cents.
The service was terrible. We watched our server visit every table around us and ask us how their meals were, but she never stopped by to ask us. I had to wave for her to ask for more napkins. After she dropped off our check, she disappeared again. Another staff member finally took our payment asked us how it was. I told him it was all right, and he didn’t say anything else, just rolled his eyes at us. Someone should have checked on us, or offered something due to all of the mishaps, but no one cared. He even told us to come back and see them, with no regard that we were obviously unhappy. Yes, we ate most of the food, because we were starving after waiting so long, but offer us a drink or something.
*We did not ask for anything to be taken off, or a replacement for anything. We might have asked for a replacement if our server had come to our table, but she didn’t. We were not rude to anyone. We both said please and thank you to everyone.
There is no parking, just street parking on the neighborhood . Be prepared to walk.
All in all, this is not worth the wait or the hassle. There is better food out there and definitely better service. We won’t...
