I've been to this restaurant four or five times. The second time I went. I sent it to bar for dinner. The bartender was obnoxious. I ordered the veal saltimbocca the bartender boasted he was the celebrity bartender that eve jokingly and the entree was the best dish the chef could make. It was the worst, tough and overly salted mind you it's a scallopine of veal with Prosciutto and sage so the prosciutto adds enough salt. The second time I went. I took a friend and we sat at the bar again. And we ordered grand Marinier Which was watered down. 2 other times when I came in there, one being the most recent. We had a mail server who is older. Refer to me as my friend's father. We're only a few years apart. And then this time came to the table with his mouth full. How unprofessional plus his fingernails were real long cause it's really weird. The only reason we came back here was because of the pasta appetizer call sachetti little purses of pasta stuffed with riccotta and served in a white truffle cream with fig balsamic drizzle, My friend absolutely adores this dish. For entrees, she got the lobster ravioli. And the tomato cream and I chose to see scallops, which cannot very fitchy, served over a truffle risotto. Which the rice was Not cooked long enough. Unless my friend wants to go back here, I doubt if I'll be returning. I'll be more likely to go...
Read moreThe only good part about this place is the food. You certainly wouldn't come for the atmosphere or the service- both are lacking. The décor and ambience definitely need some help. The restaurant feels cheap, despite the expensive menu items. Our server was not good. He said he was also the manager which I found surprising considering we had bad service. He was pretty condescending and full of himself. He kept acting like he knew better than all of us and was quite rude. When he brought out the drinks, he proceeded to spend 5 minutes telling us stories. As a manager, you should know not to stand around and talk to your tables for so long and let them enjoy their evening out. We asked for a couple of minutes after drinks to pick out appetizers, and we didn't see him for another 25 minutes. It was insulting because he even went to the table right next to ours a couple of times, but never even looked our way. That was extremely frustrating. The calamari was delicious. Everyone in our group enjoyed our entrees (service did pick up at this point). The half duck was good, but the orange sauce was extremely sweet and tasted like pure sugar- I couldn't eat it. The green beans and potatoes had no flavor. Desserts...
Read moreMediocre. We went for the first time today. The two men who worked the door and bar were downright surly and not real welcoming or friendly. They seem to not be able to smile or greet and welcome a guest. The food was okay. Not worth the $100/person we spent. I had two drinks (one a happy hour special). My friend had one glass of wine. We shared the sacchetti that were forgettable and nowhere near the craveable Luca sacchetti that I dream about. The stuffed artichokes were the best thing probably but like other lower-class Italian places. I had the lobster ravioli and took half home. They were okay. Again not amazing memorable flavors. The shrimp were thrown in and seemed overcooked. Just okay. My friend had a pizza that really was like cardboard and like it came out of a box. We both had queasy stomachs after we left and only ate half our food. The panna cotta was nice. I will not bother going back. I would say just go to Luca. And $200 for two entrees that were not steak or fish, two apps, one dessert and a couple drinks was not justified by the quality or the atmosphere. No one looked happy, and the place was pretty empty on a Thursday night...
