Shay's Restaurant — Restaurant in Cleveland

You don't find many of these places anymore! I visited Shay's with my family during a weekend in Cleveland. We walked in and the owner greeted us as if he were welcoming us into his home. He and the staff were gracious, pleasant, and very accommodating. We visited on a Sunday and it was absolutely packed, but orders were served quickly, and guests were able to "eat and run" or sit longer and enjoy their company, so there was never a wait for a table. Because we were a large party, there were a variety of meals ordered and everyone seemed to enjoy their food. My husband, daughter, and I are vegan, however, and there weren't many options for us, so we just ordered sides (fries for me and our little one, and onion rings for hubby,) but they were tasty and we had no complaints. Came here with my fiancé for the first time. I honestly just wanted to try something new. I was told to take a seat anywhere I like(cool no problem If the tables would’ve been cleaned), didn’t get waited on for about almost 10 minutes. I could be over exaggerating it just a little bit, but it was a very long wait. When the food came my French toast was cold. I've been going to this place for over 20 years but, sometimes the food isn't on point this is the 1st of January 2023 and the food was Luke warm even though I had to wait forever for my order, the home fried potatoes were like mashed potatoes but crispy on top. IDK, Maybe they have a new cook or something but, I was NOT pleased on this day, I do not recommend the French toast with the Shays special breakfast meal but instead, get the big fluffy pancakes with it, you only get 3 little bitty triangle cut pieces of the French toast instead of 2 slices cut in half and they were very slow serving us...
