To be honest, I've had very little experience with Korean food. I have had a lot of Japanese, Chinese and Thai food, but this was my first time going to a Korean restaurant. I went there with a friend who knew the grandson of the grandmother who runs the restaurant. She told me the food was great, and they've been in the community for a long time. I heard they recently renovated the restaurant, and it's very nice! It's small and pretty, it has very nice minimalistic decorations and a close, warm and inviting environment. We ordered the kimbob appetizer, which is very similar to Japanese sushi, but it had vegetables, beef and egg in it. It was delicious! One roll is enough for two people, as they're about 10-12 pieces. We also ordered the dukboki, which was a sweet and spicy rice cake dish with peppers and cabbage. It was extremely addictive and absolutely delicious! For my entree, I got the kalbee tang soup, which a delicious beef short rib soup with vegetables and eggs in beef broth. My friend got the kimchee jigae soup, which she said was really delicious but pretty spicy! All in all, the service was awesome, the food was delicious and the environment was great! I will definitely be returning and was very happy to have this as my first experience at a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFound this place by accident. Were looking for Miega Korean Barbecue, featured in the 2015 edition of "Where Chefs Eat," however this place did not disappoint. We called to make a reservation, changed plans, and they had no problem with changing our time. We arrived on time, and were seated quickly (it was Christmas, after the lunch hour so pretty quiet anyways). We got the dumpling appetizers which arrived very quickly, along with a slew of other tasty snacks. Seaweed salad, spicy radishes, pickled veggies, and some seafood that I don't particularly remember. Soup was also provided with every entree. I got the ribeye steak strips and my date got the jumbo shrimp. Everything was delicious, and very filling. I recommend getting one entree and splitting it because you get so much food, which is typical of Korean barbecue. We both only ate half, but were very pleased with the half we got. We then showed the book to the waiter and someone who was older and seemingly of more importance.
The funny thing is, the place we were actually looking for turns out to be right across the street. We might not even bother going because this place...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I come to this place every time we visit Cleveland. We came back again this time because we really enjoyed the food during our last visit.
While the prices felt a bit high, considering the current cost of living, we were happy to enjoy another tasty meal.
However, after finishing my hot stone bibimbap, I noticed that the dolsot (stone bowl) was badly cracked. I showed it to the staff and asked if it was okay to serve food in a bowl like that, but the only response I received was, āI donāt know.ā
I believe the staff should have at least checked with the kitchen or taken some kind of action to address the situation.
As far as I know, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) prohibits using cracked or damaged dishes, as they can potentially harbor bacteria or cause foreign objects to mix into the food.
We always want to support small businesses, and I hope that next time we can be served with dishware that is in...
