After a long day at The Cleveland Clinic a group of us cousins were grumpy and very hungry. I googled restaurants near the clinic and The Urban Kitchen and Deli caught my eye. The reviews were very good and photoâs of their meals looked amazing. One of my cousins wanted mashed potatoes and was mesmerized by their mashed potato photo. After finding a place to park the cousins headed anxiously to get some much needed nutrition. We were greeted by the staff with smiles and helpfulness in deciding what meal we would finally choose, as everything on the menu looked amazing. The waitress was funny and joked with us. She assured me that their iced peach tea was the best around and since I am a peach tea snob, I took her up on that challenge. She won! The most delicious peach tea Iâve ever had. Of course all the cousins, at the table, had to have a sip of the delicious peach tea. All the different meals we ordered were very good. The encrusted chicken was very flavorful and so tender. The mashed potatoes with gravy was amazing. I can go on and on about all the food choices we ordered, but can say everything was delicious. Very large servings. Soon our bellyâs were full and our grumpiness gone. The staff treats you like family and that warms a persons heart. A definite gem of a restaurant was found that day. We will be returning to the area soon and will be going back for more delicious mashed potatoes, peach tea and to try one of the Egyptian meals that they also offer. Excellent customer service and...
Read moreMy family and I were hoping to grab an early lunch here before heading over to the Natural History Museum. I made a reservation for 11:30am. When we arrived, they were completely slammed and had not reserved any table. We were put outside where it was raining and next to a very loud road. After spending a long while outside without any service, I went in to ask if perhaps we were forgotten. After a half hour, someone finally came out and took our drink order. I had to ask to have the table wiped because even my eight year old son didn't want to touch it.
When we got our drinks, they didn't bring out any water and my kids, who didn't have anything to drink, sat for another half hour until I could get ahold of someone to bring us water. That was the one and only time we given water.
We did not get our food until we had been there for an hour and a half! I had to ask for silverware and napkins. We were given the excuse that they didn't realize it was parents weekend at the local university and they were under-staffed. My response to that is - It is good business to be aware of important weekends. And if you realize you do not have the staff to accommodate the amount of people coming in, it would be better to inform people of how long the wait will be or only seat the amount of people you can appropriately serve. Our two hour lunch really threw our plans for the rest of the day and didn't allow us as much time at the museum...
Read moreI went to this restaurant on a Thursday evening and was waited on immediately by the owners wife. As I was in a hurry and everything was made to order, she advised which items would be ready the quickest. I truly do not understand the low ratings as their food was amazing and the service was fantastic. If you're in a hurry, tell them and they'll help you choose what to order. Expect a little longer wait than at a traditional chain restaurant since everything is made to order and nothing is precooked except some of the meats as they take hours to prepare.
My husband got the Four Cheese Fettuccini Alfredo with grilled shrimp. He said that it was the best shrimp he's ever had from Cape Cod to North Carolina and across the country! I had an Egyptian vegan dish called Kushery, which was delicious. I would have ordered the Corned Beef sandwich, but she ran out of it by 6pm as they had more orders than usual and it takes her several hours to roast. She also offers 3 kinds of homemade cakes and 6 different flavors of cheesecake. We ordered the Oreo Cake and Snickers Cheesecake. They were both delicious! It took me longer to choose which desserts to order than it did for them to prepare the food.
We went there for breakfast after my husband's surgery the next morning. As the entire menu is available all day, I had the Corned Beef Hash with eggs and my husband had the Philly Cheesesteak. They were...
