Casco Viejo Restaurant is definitely making great strides under its new management! The staff is friendly and attentive, and you can tell they are putting in a lot of effort to create a welcoming atmosphere. The food is authentic Dominican cuisine, full of flavor, and cooked just right. Every dish I tried had that homemade taste, and the seasoning was on point.

While there’s always room for improvement as they settle in, I can see this place becoming a go-to spot for Dominican food lovers. If you’re looking for delicious, well-seasoned meals and a restaurant that truly cares about its customers, this is the place to try. Keep up the great work!

The service experienced during the visit was unsatisfactory. The server appeared unfamiliar with the menu items and mentioned that she had never tasted the pasteles. An order for pork and skin was placed, but the dish served contained pork without the skinand pork was dry. Afterward, a request to change the order to pasteles was made, with the assurance from the manager that there would be seasoning. However, upon tasting the pasteles, it was noted that they lacked seasoning, including salt, sazon, culantro, and achote, resulting in a taste similar to plain boiled green banana. Changing my review because EVERY TIME I come here (almost every day) the mangu taste so completely different. Some days when there are certain cooks, it’s delicious, some days it’s absolutely disgusting to the point where I don’t even know why I’m spending my money or how this is even a real operating restaurant. Sometimes the salami is undercooked, sometimes it’s delicious. There is no consistency here at all and that’s a MAJOR issue.
