Smokin' Oak Wood-Fired Pizza and Taproom — Restaurant in Clifton

It was my first time at The Smokin Oak, I was excited to try the menu. Service was a -1. The cider wasn't working. One of your pizza makers, sorry can't remember her name, told me it would be awhile before she could check the cider keg, so pick something else. Amazing, she is telling me to choose something else. How does she know what I like or want? Not sure why she couldn't see if the keg was empty or the tap wasn't working properly and to let me know, but she was persistent not to help.

There was at least eight workers standing around, so they weren't short staffed. The Italian stallion was just ok, not enough meat. The garlic breadsticks were awesome!!! Wood fired pizza is always good and this place was no exception. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. I got the bbq pizza and my friend got the Alfredo pizza, both were excellent. Also got the s’mores dessert and it was good as well. Will definitely be returning when I’m in the area as I want to try the other 2 desserts and the pizza is just that good.

Update 6 July 2025 Had another delicious pizza. Built my own, signature crust, Alfredo sauce, mozzarella and feta cheese, chicken and bacon. Very good, their Alfredo sauce has a very robust flavor. I also ordered their cinnamon glazed knots. The cinnamon glaze is like the cinnamon butter, it tastes really good with the wood fired dough. I love this place—my whole family does. The food and atmosphere are consistently great. The only downside is the service, specifically the inconsistency when ordering. Most of the staff is friendly and welcoming, but there’s one girl (long brown/blonde hair, usually in a braid) who never speaks. Every time we’ve interacted with her, she just stares—no greeting, no “what can I get you,” nothing. It comes across as cold and awkward. We end up glancing at each other and just start ordering because we assume that’s what she wants… hopefully we’re not doing something wrong.
