I havenāt been to this location for a few years. I can say that there has always been a gentleman that works there, who knows where everything is, details about each product, the quality v price comparison , and useful and helpful information about picking up the correct kind of liquor project and and proper educational that I always find helpful.
UPDATED - June 2025: Since they moved to Styertown in Clifton I go less and less. They don't have the selection that they had in the location on Rt 3. However they made this location a food store with liquor
Also the design of the o side is extremely confusing- it is a maze. It also gives me anxiety in thete because of the way it is set up and it seems like there is so much noise and sometimes they have inanimate objects yhat suddenly talk or dance depending on the time of year. I REALLY REALLY wanted to love this place but I am sorry to say I don't. I am also not the only one who gas said that the store gives them anxiety and sensory overload. They should have the kind of warning that they put on some games snd movies that about possibly giving people seizures. I wish I was joking.
The next time I am in the area I will take pictures so post of all the bizarre "things" decorations and distractions that they have there. Honestly it seems like they designed it to loose an unwanted child there. Check the pictures others posted as there are a lot of the distraction decorations posted here. I am sure some people like this kind of thing but I don't go to the store to be distracted and overwhelmed.
By no means have i had a bad experience with staff it purely is the design and the other things I mentioned.
If you want a large liquor store with great prices and selection try Shoppers Vineyard, 875 Bloomfield Ave,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt was my first time shopping at Stew Leonard's with my sister and my three children. Our hands were pretty full already with a toddler and an 8 month old but we were pretty excited since they seemed to have a great selection of food. However, I would say the set-up felt like a maze or a ride you had to navigate through. It was not really convenient If you had to run and get what you needed or you accidentally forget something as it would be difficult to walk back through. Not only that, but our cashier Linda S. greeted us VERY strangely. She scanned our foods and asked if I had the app which I did not and disclosed that this was our first time there. She then asks whether we have any bags, which we did not have with us. Then goes on to say, "You know what I see here, TWO LOSERS" and makes an L-shape out of her hands on her forehead. We are two asians who were greeted that way by a white woman. Just weird. Then she tells us she didn't want to go out of her way to put stickers on all of our items so we should go fetch a box to put our things in. I had to sit with that all day. What really grinds my gears is the fact that she did that in front of my children which is wild...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTo all Asians out there! Beware of racism from Clifton Stew Leonard's. Store itself has tons of selections, parking is easy. Foods in general fresh which is why I made 4 trips in 3 days in the row. Shame on the young lady as one of the food samplers.
After I reported the incident, the Manager seemed to concern, helped me with express check out, even helped me pick up the item on the bottom shelf of the cart which didnāt fit on the top shelf. Just hope she didnāt think I was planning on not paying which I can now relate to reviews saying āuncomfortable due to being watched over by cashiersā. What a double shame if thatās the case!
From my newly discovered āevery day to-go/Trader Joe replacement supermarketā to now āugh I really need sth there, but hopefully wonāt run into the same racistā store.
In short, distasteful experience! and reviews sure indicated Iām not the only Asian being discriminated. Thank goodness for all the honest feedbacks. At least I know I am not alone. Will be sure to take back all of my...
