They screwed my order up three times, but I'm giving them a positive review, and here's why:
For starters: The McDonald's in the Northern Lights section is in a rough area of Columbus, not unlike Hough or the W.25/W.41/W.44 district up in Cleveland.
The drive through was long, but I was patient. The customer ahead of me ordered a buffet and kept telling them they had the order wrong. I should have known something was up. I ordered a Diet Coke (medium), a large fry and a McDouble.
They gave me the wrong order, but changed it. However, they kept giving me a McChicken instead, so it took three tries to get the order right.
Now you may say, "Why not give them 1 or 2 stars?" For one the clerk who messed up the order took accountability and apologized. The main problem is that this is in an area with poor people that order way too much food and it puts stress on the infrastructure. At lunchtime, you should order a smaller meal than say, at dinner. But these people order way too much and, although there's no excuse for messing up the order I get it. I work in Customer Service and when there are too many customers it's easy to lose concentration.
The manager was very apologetic and friendly--she gave me the correct order (large fry) and the right burger and didn't charge me extra, as it was their mistake. I'd go back there again when it's less busy.
I think it's in a tough spot; a lot of the demographic relies on fast food as their daily baseline meals and it creates unnecessary strain on the restaurant. McDonald's should just be for a quick snack or in-and-out experience. At the very least they should have a cap on...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would. I don't even know how this place calls itself a business. Waited in line forever the first time, messed up our order and rang it up wrong, then we waited in line a second time around and finally get to the window and they wanted to argue about a slice of tomato being 60 cents(because they didn't want to remake our food correctly after they screwed it up a second time,if they would've made the food correctly we wouldn't have minded paying it) like we intentionally screwed up our own order on the receipt so we would have to wait ANOTHER 30+ minutes in line to save 60 cents. Then they finally gave us tomato, didn't remove the lettuce we didn't want, and this is the tomato they gave us and the guy at the window was cussing at us when we did nothing to prompt that. Also not in uniform and they had music with profanity in it blarring so loud he could barely even understand us trying to talk to him. My boyfriend works at a restaurant and I'm in management at a salon. We both are in customer service and understand what it's like to be in a busy service industry position so we aren't unreasonable people who deserve to be treated like this, this wasn't just an off night for these employees, these aren't high school kids working their first job who don't know any better, they're just completely...
Read moreIt's okay...There's really nothing great or terrible about this McDonald's in particular...maybe I'm not giving them enough credit...they ARE a more busier McDonald's than some of the other ones...I mean, ever since Covid, they are literally the ONLY fast food restaurant around that actually stays open ALL night...And, they seem to be shorthanded....especially in the middle of the night....most of the time they only can do online orders or door dash because they don't have enough people to have 1 person take drive thru orders and another person cook....or maybe they just do that when 1 of the 2 people working goes on break....and that's just my terrible timing to blame....either way, on second thought....I think I'm going to have to bump them up 1 more star....yeah, I'm glad I thought about this a little....3 stars kinda makes them look like they suck....and they don't suck....I kinda suck for not taking everything they deal with into account....and I KNOW they deal with some BS throughout the day because about 15 years ago...maybe closer to 20 years ago....I worked at this very same McDonald's....and I only lasted a couple of months....so yeah, BIG UP TO NORTHERN LIGHTS MCDONALDS! They do their best with what they are given....or where they're located....You can't expect a miracle to happen in the middle of...
