Ordered a full 10ā Bundt cake online today for my mother in lawās birthday this weekend, as she absolutely loves the cakes and this will be an awesome surprise for her. Toss up of her favorite flavors being Lemon and White Chocolate Raspberry - both so delicious, and a tough decision to make as there is no option for cakes aside from single flavors - and understandably so. We received a buy one Bundtlet get one Bundtlet free coupon at the Des Moines Home & Garden show a couple of weeks back that expires this weekend, so I contacted the store prior to ordering the cake to speak with a staff member, and Tracey took my call. I inquired about the possibility of receiving the free Bundtlet with the purchase of a full size Bundt cake ($33 value), instead of having to purchase a Bundtlet ($4.50 value) to receive a free Bundtlet ($4.50 value). Tracey said, āNo, itās a buy one Bundtlet get one Bundtlet free coupon.ā She had seemed hesitant in her response, and in wanting to make sure I had been clear in what I had asked, I reiterated that I was going to be purchasing a full Bundt cake, and was hoping to receive the free Bundtlet with the purchase of the full Bundt cake as opposed to receiving the Bundtlet with the purchase of a Bundtlet. Tracey quite rudely said, āI can only do what the coupon says. If you want a free Bundtlet, you have to purchase a Bundtlet to receive one.ā I thanked her for her assistance, and proceeded to place the cake order online, because I adore my mother in law and want her birthday to be filled with her favorite things. Two star rating is because, while the cakes themselves are absolutely fantastic in both quality and flavor, the customer service received when I contacted store with a question was reprehensible. I made the purchase today because itās an important item for my mother in law, but it is the last one I will make from this specific location. Iāve always had tremendous customer service and complete satisfaction with many other locations across the country, and I still feel very favorably about the product as a whole. However, with the entire state of Iowa having only one store/franchise location, and with the lack of customer service and regard received today, it seems that this particular location isnāt one that consists of owners wanting their customers to be satisfied, nor of their employees to treat customers with politeness and respect. I know my mother in law will have a delicious cake this weekend, but I wonāt be a customer again.
update The store manager reached out to me regarding my experience with their store, which I appreciated tremendously. My discontent with the situation was addressed, and I was also able to hear the viewpoint from their side in cases such as this, which helped to close the gap, if you will. Last Friday, I went in person to purchase two dozen cupcakes for a party and to order another three dozen to be delivered to my office this week. It took forever to get the order input, I was told that they don't open until 9 am so they couldn't deliver them to my office at 8:30 am and would have to deliver them the afternoon before the office function (even though I was charged for delivery). I said fine, paid and left. Our office function was moved up a day so I had to change the delivery date. I called them to do so. Again, listless customer service, they couldn't find my order, put me on hold, still couldn't find my order, asked for my order number or receipt number (which is not with me) and then acted as though I was the idiot because I didn't have the numbers.
