So I decided to come here to eat and watch the green bay game. This is a not very busy Sunday night. I have been here a few times each time its around 7 to 8pm. What stinks is that the service at the Clive location is always the same...We are at a table and wait for waitress to come collect are drink order. We sit at the table for about 15 minutes to 20 minutes. I have now decided that I will ask for my waitress. And no one knows who our waitress is supposed be. So the hostess goes and talks to another waitress and asked her to take are table and thats fine. I believe communication is key at a time like this. Now they take my order we both order the same thing, a tenderloin, one with onion rings the other one with fries .We put in are drink order and at the same time. Now we wait an additional 10 minutes on drink refills. This is due to the fact that no one is checking the table. When I finally go to get someone's attention to get my refill on our drinks. The cook did a great job tonight. I'm disappointed with the lack of customer service in the industry nowadays everyone wants to put this under the rug. When you are a waitress and you're living off tips and makes it really difficult to make your living when your tips suck. But when you don't provide the correct service you don't deserve a tip. I have left 1 dollar for tip. So keep in mind i have family that use to work this industry. That have always done well with income with good customer service. Suggestion would be to make sure the people your waiting on are...
Read moreWhilst passing through Des Moines, The Other Place happened to be a convenient stop for a Sunday afternoon meal. It happened to be a Sunday when the KC Chiefs were playing and the place was hopping — which means LOUD. Fortunately we got seated in a semi-quiet alcove and we still enjoyed our meal in spite of the noise.
We ordered a couple beers. If you are into darker beers, this isn’t the place to go, I ended up trying a canned stout that was OK.
We ordered a Buffalo Chicken pizza which arrived in good time and reasonably hot. The “problem” is I don’t know what I think of their crust. It’s definitely not thin crust, and not deep dish, and not cracker. The dough tasted salt-less, and I’m thinking there isn’t any oil of any sort in the dough as it bakes to taste like a fluffy center, cracker bottom piece of Matzoh. Strange, and I’ve had all sorts of great, mediocre and bad pizzas — this is the first time for anything of the kind.
There was plenty of cheese and a good helping of chicken, along with buffalo sauce, making it basically a “white” pizza. It was good, if different, but I doubt I would return again if we were locals.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Price was appropriate for...
Read moreWe came here for Father’s Day lunch. At first we walked in and the place is pretty empty so I thought we would have good service. That was completely wrong. We ordered an appetizer and then it took 20 minutes for our waitress to come back and actually get our order. I had a Bloody Mary that was average at best, then I sat without a drink until our appetizer came out. I got a beer next and that took at least another 10 minutes to get it. The table we were at was so wobbly my 2 year old son couldn’t touch it without almost spelling our drinks. The food was questionable, definitely not worth what we paid. My wife and myself had to stop immediately after leaving to use the restroom. Both of us had terrible stomach aches. As we were there I looked around at the wall decor and everything was covered in dust. Then I took a glance at the open ceiling. That as well was covered in dust. Just not a lot of pride in their work whatsoever. The waitress was very nice and kind so I did tip her well, but we will not...
