My husband and I just finished breakfast here this morning. My favorite dish is no longer on the menu, so that was a bummer. I ordered the avocado toast, thinking it would be a tasty alternative. When the food came out, the waitress' food runner attempted to hand me French toast instead and the correct dish to my husband. I tried to politely say, "Oh, no, I had asked for the avocado toast." She took it back to the kitchen, and we were sitting close enough to the kitchen opening that we could hear our waitress complaining about how she heard me say French toast. Our waitress then came back to our table telling me she heard me say French toast, so I then felt obligated to say I'll just eat it. I was trying to be open-minded even though I felt belittled over a breakfast dish. I didn't care for the french toast and ended up eating about three bites. Probably won't return, we will save our breakfast trips for other fun places.
Update: I really appreciate the return amount for my order! I do want to acknowledge part of your response, that completely did not happen; I was NEVER offered the dish to be remade or corrected. I was however, made to feel that I was in the wrong for stating I had ordered the avocado toast, not french toast. Our waitresses had come back to the table carrying the french toast and stated, "I heard french toast when you ordered", it was then that I told her I would just eat it. I am disappointed this was stated in your post since it was never stated during our visit or even implied.
In our opinion, the tip is not a reflection of how the service goes. It is an obligated part...
Read moreI lived in Melbourne, Australia. So, naturally, when I saw St. Kilda, I wanted to check it out and have a taste of my 2nd home.
Some of the menu items were very Aussie, fresh food items very reminiscent of a day on the beach in St. Kilda, all the way down to the water with no ice.
The food was excellent: breakfast tacos. The chai latte with oat milk was superb. Not too sweet perfection. I didn’t receive my chai latte until after my food came. I was under the impression my drink order was forgotten about. The service was lacking, unfortunately. Many of the girls just standing around looking lost. I had to ask for a water refill twice.
So, if you want a good breakfast and don’t mind mediocre service, this is a great place to check out. Unfortunately, they only had one pastry left and had run...
Read moreEdit: My most recent trip was very nice! Just be warned the space is quite loud when tables are full.
Very tasty chai latte, not too hot to drink, and nice toast with smoked salmon, etc. The cafe is pretty and minimalistic but voices carry so it's kinda loud. And though I liked what I had, the smashed peas were a bit simple considering how many I received. The breakfasts I saw my neighbors eating smelled super good! Would go back to try other dishes.
The staff were doing a good job, especially with how busy it was. My friend ended up not being able to meet me, so I asked for my food to go so as not to hog the table. (A line of couples were waiting for one to open up.) The staff got my food and ticket out to me quickly! Hope the rest of the day...
