Tapz Pub and Grill — Restaurant in Clive

I live three blocks away and I did karaoke for 8 years 6 nights a week I have been to every bar and pub in Polk county I promise. The staff at tapz pub are in an entirely different class. I started going to taps about a year and a half ago and from the first night I realized this was something different. The second time I went in the bartender knew my name what I drink and ask me about something I mentioned on my first visit. Never in my life out of hundreds of bars of doing karaoke at hundreds of places within six states have I ever been treated this way. I have met and interacted with a total of five different bartenders at this place. Literally seriously I have been to every place that offers karaoke in Polk county in the last 15 years and for the first time not offering karaoke I have built absolutely at home at a bar near me. As usual with attending a bar numerous occasions you will run into a drunk idiot or a rude person and no matter what. Shown absolute respect no matter what the situation and did what was best for all patrons at that time. Eric you are awesome.I have had three conversations with you and you have mentioned previously you have been doing this for 10 to 15 years being a bartender and it shows. The professionalism is off the church and I say this with myself visiting over 100 local bars within Polk county. Dude you are a rockstar all the patrons love you, your attitude, and your promptness to treat everyone with respect first come first serve this person ahead of this person etcetera....

I really like the look of the place. Very open and inviting. Good atmosphere. Very friendly staff. I ordered my usual bacon cheeseburger plain with barbecue sauce on the side and fries. My dining companion got a pizza burger with tater tots. As for the accuracy of our order. Our fries and tater tots were in the wrong baskets. And my burger was not plain. It had salad all over it. It did look good and fresh if you like salad on your burger. After I fixed my burger we dug in. The fries and tater tots were perfect. Hot and delicious. I was told the pizza burger was excellent. As for my bacon cheeseburger. The bun was fresh and toasted perfectly. The cheese was tasty and just the right amount. The bacon was slightly undercooked for my taste. And only 2 slices. The burger was easily identifiable as a premade frozen patty. And had no char. A little disappointing. The other elements made it worth eating though. A good overall experience. Looking forward to going back on Wing Wednesday for their chicken wings. All in all definitely worth...

I'm fairly new to the Des Moines area, and after trying out several different pubs, I must say I LOVE going to Tapz! The first thing i noticed, the place is SO CLEAN!!! The atmosphere is wonderful, and they have some HUGH TV's to watch your favorite sports...I'm not much of a sports fan, and the thing I like, they always have music playing if there's not a big game on! And their happy hour is WONDERFUL! Between 4p-6p, you buy a drink, they give you a poker-type chip, that you can use to buy a drink with anytime, not just during happy hour. I've been going there for only a month or so, and I have met all of their bartenders, and they all have wonderful personalites, and give great service with a smile. And I like their clientele too. Also, if you need a bite to eat, they have a small bar menu. I had their fried green beans last time I was there, and they were awesome! I will definitely go back to Tapz!
