This is a new Chinese restaurant in College Park. The menu offers couple pages of typical Chinese American dishes, plus pages and pages of authentic Chinese Chinese food that appears to be a mix of dishes from several culinary regions of China, but mostly from SiChuan (四川).
We have tried a number of dishes over multiple visits. Most of the dishes are delicious, and the portions are usually very generous for their prices.
Hot spicy Intestines (麻辣肥腸)and duck blood with chili sause (a spicy casserole of innards. 山城毛血旺) are two authentic SiChuan classics. Delicious. 好吃! A real treat for the adventurous and Sichuan gourmets. Beef in scallion pancake (牛肉捲餅) - very good. Soup dumplings (小籠湯包) - very good. Soup Noodles: Rattan pepper fish rice noodle (藤椒魚片米線), Rattan pepper intestine rice noodle (藤椒肥腸米線), Szechuan Beef Noodle Soup (四川牛肉麵) - all very good. These spicy soup noodles got deliciously strong spicy kicks! Fried spicy pork feet (香辣豬腳) - great! Tender inside and crispy outside. Chicken with ghost pepper (鬼椒雞片) - excellent Sichuan flavor! Very spicy and a must try dish for the adventurous. Shrimp with broccoli (蝦仁西蘭花) - great! Large portion and very tasty. Shredded pork in garlic sauce (魚香肉絲)- great! Generous portion and delicious. Beef spicy pot (麻辣牛肉香鍋) - excellent dish with stir-fried beef mixed with non-green ‘vegetables’ like wood ear, potato and yuba (腐竹). Shredded Pork with Peking Sauce (京醬肉絲)- Excellent. Stir fried meat on a bed of very thinly sliced cucumber and spring onion. This dish is known for its Peking duck-like flavor! House Special Sour cabbage with Fish Filet (本樓酸菜魚)- delicious and generous portion. Tofu with Preserved Eggs (皮蛋豆腐) - Deliciously complex flavorings for this simple classic appetizer. Highly recommend this dish, especially to people who have never tasted the Chinese ‘thousand year’ egg delicacy. Kung Pao chicken (公保雞丁) - the original Sichuan version of the Americanized dish found in most Chinese carryouts. Made with dry red pepper, peppercorns, peanuts, carrots and celery. Highly recommend it. Stir-fried Egg Plant in Garlic Sause (九層塔茄子) and Mapo Tofu (麻婆豆腐) - these two classic SiChuan vegetable dishes are delicious. Grandma’s braised pork belly (外婆紅燒肉) love this dish of tender sweet pork cuts of meat, fat and skins. Smaller portion but delicious.
From the one page new menu: stir fried squid and pork with onion and pepper (尖椒小炒) and Hunan stir fried fish filet (湖南小炒魚片) are delicious. Braised lamb pot (羊肉鍋) - A stew of lamb and daikon (白蘿蔔 ). Very satisfying belly warming comfort food for a cold day. Kung Pao Shrimp (宫保虾) - another winner! Stir-fried shrimps with peanuts, diced vegetables, red peppers and Sichuan peppercorns.
The place is large and clean. Soft popular chinese music is pleasantly upbeat and interesting. Servers do try hard to provide good service. Some dishes can be very spicy, but you can ask...
Read moreWent on opening day with a group of friends! I am very glad they opened up a Chinese restaurant near UMD! The atmosphere was awesome, and the place was very spacious and well decorated. It was not too busy when we went (around 5pm), but the place was mostly full when we left.
The food was good, especially the crispy pig feet and beef appetizer dish. The crab pork soup dumplings were okay, and the bok choy we got was decent. We also ordered an eggplant dish but it never came, but I will cut them some slack since it was their grand opening day and there were a lot of people. Plus, they did not bill us for that dish anyways.
The servers were all super nice! But, we were not attended to much (maybe because we were seated in a corner?). I wish the servers came by to check on us and refilled our waters. The check took awhile to come but I know they were working hard to get our check split for the table.
The prices for each dish is around $15-$20, but if you order family-style and share, you can save a lot of money! My group was large (7-9people) and we ordered around 5 dishes, each person had to pay around $10.
Overall, the experience was very good! I would definitely come back to try their other dishes and invite others here. I really want to see this restaurant succeed in the area, and give them time to settle in. I think this is a great hangout place for college students who want to have some authentic...
Read moreSo, I love szechuan food and im new to the area, so I decided to try this place because there menu does have some items from that region. I ordered a dan dan noodles and i have to say it was terrible. But first, when I walked in I was greeted and I got a blank stare from the gentlemen at the counter. I told him I had an order, I paid and he just pointed at the bag. Behind the counter. With hat being said it felt like I wasn't welcomed there, the vibes was abysmal and a bit rude but okay. If you do not want certain people in your establishment, they should put a sign outside, so I won't waste my money there. Secondly, I've eaten dan dan noodles quite alot, but as my photo shows it was drenched in a pool of oil, maybe its me but it was the worset dan dan noodle ive tasted. It was so underwhelming I didn't want to finish it. It also seems like they used regular spaghetti noodles to make it, which maybe I am wrong on this front but it was so bland. Flavor was semi decent though. But still the worse dan dan I've ever had. Probably would never step foot in here again just because of the service but as far as szechuan food goes,...
