The food was mostly ok, definitely overpriced. The sushi was pretty good, but some of the fish seemed dried out like it was not fresh and/or not stored properly. We had the sushi deluxe, an alaskan roll, and an iso roll. The iso roll was the highlight of the sushi for sure. We also got the hibachi combo which had beef, chicken, and shrimp. Is was sitting in some runny liquid like the whole pan was dumped into the box and not just the meat and veggies like you expect a hibachi to do. While it tasted good enough, the hibachi was $30 for a single order and was disappointingly small. We spent over $75 total and it was really only worth maybe $50. The fried rice was dry but not too bad.
My biggest issue was that we ordered through grubhub which was a mistake. Us and another patron that arrived at the same time had issues with grubhub orders. They charged me online but never sent the order to the restuarant. So i had to order in person, which meant i got charged again. And had to wait a WHOLE HOUR when the place was almost empty. I know it was not the restaurants fault, but they offered no discount or anything to ease the blow. All in all, mid level food but the ordering experience and waiting 2 hours from when i placed the order online to when i got the food ruined this place for me. Probably wont be back again, and will never order with grubub again.
Three stars is for the food, not because of the...
Read moreSeems like this place would be better if it was a Chinese restaurant and stopped pretending to know what Japanese food is. I ordered tatsuta age (fried chicken) and takoyaki (fried octopus balls) as appetizers. The chicken wasn't so bad. Just dry and sad. The takoyaki was the only thing I actually liked. I ordered yaki soba and it wasn't bad. Not good, but not terrible. The chicken was just dry and bland like the tatsuta age. It was $11.50 but tasted like lo mein that I'd order for $6 at a mall food court. I ordered some tempura soba and it came with carrots, huge slices of onion, baby corn, and undercooked mushrooms. The soup was weak and slightly sour for some reason. I'm pretty sure the noodles were the prepackaged things you can microwave. It was like they made the yaki soba, made the noodles thicker, and spilled chicken broth on it. The tempura was ok... except for the tempura'd broccoli and cucumber. Who tempuras broccoli and cucumber? None of this food was nearly good enough to...
Read moreI had a desire for sushi, and it was more than satisfied by fun specialty rolls and quality standard sushi fare. I didn’t order anything else, but we were brought complimentary edamame since they were so busy. If the sushi is any indication, I’d bet money that the other items are also delicious. I recommend the UMD roll - I felt obliged to order it, but it was really good.
My wife and I dined in, which is probably a better choice than takeout simply because they are a small place that can get backed up. The inside is spacious enough with a bar and tables, with a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. I could hear the sushi chefs at work even seated furthest away from them. The staff were organized and helpful even with the stress of a Friday night.
There are more affordable sushi places, but there are much more expensive places too. Ordering their combos is probably the best way to get good bang for your buck. Ultimately, it’s a lovely place that I’ll definitely be returning to...
