Staff has come and gone at Seoulspice, but one thing is consistent - they hire warm people who provide excellent service.
Interactions are brief at this build-your-own-bowl spot. Sometimes it takes barely a minute to get my order. But I'm always looking forward to hear "what would you like as your base?" as I walk up to the service line.
Besides the friendly welcome, there's 2 reasons why you should consider eating here.
You get a handful of options at each of the 5 steps: base (noodles, rice, greens), proteins, veggies, sauce ,and toppings. But it's clear that they were carefully selected and meant to work together. Clear Korean-inspired flavors with simple ingredients that always gets me coming back.
A pro tip for the hungry - ask for extra veggies!
You get 1 protein choice and all the veggies. A typical bowl has costs around ~$12, and it's a solid amount of food. From my experience, most find it difficult to finish a bowl unless they skimp on some of the items.
So the chances are, your belly will be full.
The restaurant is located on the Univ. of Maryland campus, so it's prepared for the bustle of busy students. The staff doesn't waste your time, packing your bowl quickly so you can be on your way. Though you might catch a compliment on your outfit from time to time.
It's quick service by default, but fortunately Eric, Chauncey, Benny and others have always been happy to hear...
Read moreOrdered online and confirmation said food would be ready at 5pm. Got there 5:05 and indicated we were there to pick up a to-go order. The guy asked for my name and then said "just a minute" and went back to serve people in line. I was thinking to myself "what's the point of ordering online if you still need to wait until after everybody who got in the door before you was served?" Patiently waited until no one was in line and inquired again. Was told that they ran out of beef but new batch should be ready in a few minutes. So the wait continued. Inquired again at 5:20 when it'd be ready and was asked "would you like a refund?" We left the place to run other errands at 5:25, 25 minutes after when the food was supposed to be ready and still no food. And this is not make-to-order by any means. It's like a Chipotle or Cava for Korean foods. Would...
Read moreThis place is so delicious and portions are great. I would come every 2-3 days each week but it’s such a shame that the staffs are very rude and the customer service is so poor which has led me to choose other options. The manager is extremely nice each time I come but everyone else seems so have a stern look. Especially the girl Anaijah (I think, it was on the receipt), the black girl was extremely rude and rolled her eyes when I made a request for my meal and even talked back and was very sassy. Every encounter with her always reminds me that I’m better off avoiding this place. This is the only Seoul spice location I know who tends to have extremely rude staffs. I would have left a one star but the food and manager are the only reason why I’m willing to be nice enough for a 2...
