Today I took my daughter to the University of Maryland to retake her graduation photos. Afterward, we stopped by Pho Thom for dinner. My daughter said Pho Thom is a well-known spot near the UMD College Park MD. We easily found the restaurant and parked at the nearby CVS lot, just a one-minute walk away. Pho Thom recently reopened in a newly renovated space. The design feels modern and clean, with a calm and peaceful atmosphere. The owner warmly welcomed us and shared that they’ve been running the business for about 15 years. They moved from their old location to this beautifully updated space. We ordered a bowl of Vietnamese beef noodle soup and a shrimp Pad Thai. I’ve tried pho at other places before, but the broth often tasted too heavy with MSG or seasoning, leaving my mouth dry. After eating at Pho Thom, I didn’t feel that dryness at all. The broth tasted light and fresh, and I could tell they used healthy, high-quality ingredients. My daughter also enjoyed her shrimp Pad Thai, it was flavorful but not greasy. This was the best Vietnamese beef noodle soup I’ve had in over 20 years. I truly appreciate how much care the owner puts into preparing healthy and delicious meals. I highly recommend...

Today I feel a little sick and I was thinking on getting pho, but then remembered my last experience at this restaurant and I forgot to write a review. This past year the service has been trash from to go food to service inside the restaurant. I don’t know if it’s because of the pandemic but you guys used to be so good! Last time me and my partner went to get pho, we live around the corner. We both ordered the same P5 and omg the amount of meat they gave us was a joke, I wish we took pictures it was so little like almost if they made a mistake or something, but we didn’t say anything because we were so hungry. Also They didn’t have any tendon left so we were left with just the meat. I love my pho with a lot of lime, so I ask for extra, the server brought me 2 little old bitter pieces so my partner ask for more and she said BUT I JUST GAVE YOU SOME I look at her and said yes but we want more and she just rolled her eyes and gave us more. We spend almost $60 dollars and you can’t cut a fresh lime and give me more? Like it’s ridiculous. I missed the old staff they were so nice and accommodating. So...

Food was good. Lots to choose from. However, the host (older gentleman) treated us very badly. I dined here with all my family. He stopped us and told us we couldn’t come in with my 3yr old until we put his jacket by the entrance because it was ā€œtoo wetā€ today is raining out and of course our coats are wet. He didn’t stop any of the other customers. He was very rude about it. Then we asked to sit towards the back because it was cold when they opened the door, he looked at us mad and took a deep breath and told us to go. We proceeded to the back of the restaurant. We ordered our food with a different person (very nice lady) and when our food came our he came to our table. He put the first plate down and the. Asked something else. We could not understand what he was saying so he got mad and walked off. He didn’t come back again until it was time for the check. He just threw our check on the table. Btw 18% of the tip is already included. Overall food was good but we will not be coming back to this time of...

Pho Thom is one of my go-to take-out spots. A mix of Vietnamese and Thai, I highly recommend the P-2 and P-7 pho options, their grilled lemongrass pork (with spring roll) over either rice or vermicelli noodles, and the Pad See Ew. I’ve never dined in mainly because parking is a little difficult, but it’s always very busy whenever I stop in to pick up my food. While I can’t speak to the dine-in service, the hosts are as attentive as they can be for to-go orders when it’s very busy. Their prices are very reasonable and the food is always consistently delicious. Definitely a staple take-out spot in the Hyattsville/College Park area.

I recently visited Pho Thom and had a decent experience overall. The atmosphere was relaxed and casual, but nothing particularly special stood out. The customer service was friendly, though a bit slow during peak hours. As for the food, the pho chicken was a bit underwhelming—there wasn’t enough chicken meat in the bowl, which was disappointing. On the positive side, the side hot peppers were really spicy and gave a nice kick to the dish, which I personally enjoyed. Overall, it was an okay meal, but there’s room for improvement in both the portion sizes and service.
