I am in town for work and picked this restaurant instead of all the same old chain spots that clutter the College Park area. Nothing fancy about the design but just enough elements to give it the expected Ramen shop feeling. Mainly a take out location but there is still plenty dining room space for those who are eating in. Clean and well kept including a sign encouraging customers to use sanitizer before filling their cups at the water station. This is a family owned business with different generations present at every position. After the group finished taking care of a quick rush of orders, I noticed what I would guess was their father go around the counter to take a moment to greet 2 children with a hug who were politely occupied together on their tablets until it was time to return home. That has nothing to do with the food or service, but it left me with a sign that this business is worth supporting. I ordered The Hibachi, selected my two meats with Teriyaki (Chicken & Beef) and my 5 options for veggies. It included a small cup of Miso Soup and a sauce option. I decided to take it to go as I traveled back to my room, which was a 20 minute walk away. Gusts of chilled wind accompanied me and my bag of food but once I tore the bag open, all of the contents were still hot! Well packaged with good sturdy quality plastic utensils. The Miso soup was very tasty, not overpowering you with salt the way other places might. I would have liked to have another piece of tofu or two and and more greens, minor points to consider. The Hibachi itself was very good. The ingredients were fresh and the meats had good flavor. It was not a heavy meal but I was still satisfied with the amount of food for the price. Bring cash or it it will cost more to use your card to offset the fee they get charged. I will return for another meal...
Read moreI love ramen, so I felt compelled to try this new place when it became an option for delivery to my address. Sadly, the highly positive reviews of this place seem to reflect the enthusiasm and inexperience of college students more than the caliber of the food, which was solidly mediocre.
Both the ramen and hibachi were extremely oversalted, to the point of being hard to eat. The tonkatsu ramen broth totally lacked the cravable ramen umami depth and silky mouthfeel which is only obtained when it is slowly simmered long enough to extract collagen from bones. The shoyu tare has an unpleasant metallic tang, a really common shoyu fault. If you try this place, I would recommend ordering a different flavor, since miso and salt tares tend to be more foolproof. The noodles and soft-boiled egg were also a bit overcooked--the restaurant should consider adjusting delivery orders for how the hot food will continue to cook in transit.
The tiramisu slice we had for dessert was tiny for the price, and the sponge cake in it was dry and unflavorful--no discernable espresso or liqueur. This should be a decadent, exuberant Italian dessert, and it's hard to screw up--it's basically just a trifle. Bad tiramisu is just lazy.
I will say that the on the positive side, the ingredients all seemed fresh, the hibachi portion size was generous, and they had clearly taken care with the presentation even for delivery. I wish I could recommend it, but it just wasn't good. If you want great ramen, get it in Maryland from Akira, or make a trip to DC for...
Read moreThis is an affordable ramen and make your own hibachi joint in the College Park area that has opened up recently. We decided to try it on a whim and ordered the chicken teriyaki ramen and the Qu spicy ramen. Both were delicious and very affordable for how much food you get, but didn't quite taste like authentic ramen. Both the chicken and chashu pork were a little too sweet for me. The atmosphere is nice, however there are only about 25 spaces to sit with only a few tables, ordering takeout may be a better option when it's busier or if you have a sizable group. If you do eat in, expect to stand around while your food is being made as seats do tend to fill up. PS: as part of their opening special, if you show proof of sharing their restaurant on social media, you will receive 10% off your order. Will be returning to try...
