1541 is a great place. It’s one of a kind place in College Station. You will have to go out of your way to get this kind of atmosphere in a coffee shop. Every time I come into town I try to stop by and get a 20oz cafe latte, which is a whopping $4-ish. It’s meant to be read with sarcasm. Other coffee shops would offer this drink in the $5+ range. I also usually get the 12oz chai tea latte for $3. And based on their to go cups, they brew Lavazza coffee. Which is a very good coffee brand and great in flavor. They also offer a variety of other cold and hot drinks and special menus that vary depending on the season. And but wait there’s more. I’ve only talked about drinks. They also have pastries. I have yet to have one but they look delicious and amazing. And based on their motto, “ yes taste just like grandma’s, it’s made from scratch” I take those patties are made fresh everyday. And finally the decor and atmosphere in 1541 is really nice. It is very fitting for a coffee shop. The only recommendation I can give is that the times I have stopped by the clientele seems to lack a younger crowd which makes staying there to enjoy a cup of coffee or the pastry a little more difficult. I am unsure about their WiFi situation but I’m sure they provide connectivity as well. It is definitely a must check out for...
Read moreI have so much regret for not finding this place until only a few months before I graduate from Texas A&M University.
I am a fan of their Chai Tea Latte, and trust me, I am very peculiar when it comes to chai tea lattes. It is one of those drinks that I must have before deciding whether that cafe is good or not. It is much cheaper and better(!!) than other cafes, and the latte art they do when they hand me the coffee.. WHOO, it blows my mind.
I am also fan of their tiramisu although I would love for the bread to be little more moist in my opinion. I do not mind much, though, because it's their style and it still tastes good.
I also had some of the macarons when they were selling them one day, and it was SO good. I remember when my friend who is a baker told me about what good macarons should have, and when I tasted the macarons from here it had everything that my friend mentioned. I wish I could have bought more because pastries change everyday!
I wish I knew this place ever since I started college! the location is definitely not optimal place for other students to be able to get there without a car, but it is so worth. If you are reading this and you don't have a car, please get someone to go with you!! You won't regret bugging them at all. You gotta get your coffee when you need your...
Read moreWent there for breakfast @ 9:30 on a Saturday and they were out of everything but a few sausage egg and cheese croissant sandwiches. We almost left and probably should have. The sandwiches were basic and the sausage consisted of a single 2" frozen Jimi Dean type patty that was dwarfed by the size of the croissant. They were reheated in a microwave and not heated all the way through. The texture of the croissant led us to believe they were at least a day or more old. We were treated oddly during this first visit, I assume because we did not order any coffee related beverages. The coffee and pastries may be better. I can't say because that's not what we went there for. You are expected to clear your own table when through, but they have a silly small basket that quickly gets filled up which makes it impossible to fill with more than 1 tables dishes. You would also think that a predominantly coffee shop would do a great amount of business on a Monday but they are...
