Blue Fin Sushi Fusion — Restaurant in College Station

I've been looking for a Sushi restaurant in Bryan College Station since we moved to Navasota a year ago. Saw google reviews of Blu Fin Sushi Fusion and decided to try them. They have only been open for about 3-4 months. My wife agreed to try it out but was hesitant (not a fan of sushi). We arrived and were greeted by the staff (they greet everyone who comes in, a very nice touch!!!!) We were seated and the bartender (I'm sorry but I forgot his name) took our order for a Thai tea, Thai coffee and a Strawberry-Kiwi tini (alcohol menu). They also have an extensive Bar menu which I posted as well as the current menu. All 3 drinks were very good and at least equal to if not better than sushi restaurants I went to in Dallas !!!!!! Sandra was our server and was very friendly and helpful. We ordered a California roll (my wife actually ate some of that ), a Philly roll, the Panko Shrimp, the Crispy Soft Shell crab, a Japanese Spring Roll, and a Blu Fin Tower..... The food arrived at different times so we had time to finish one before another came out....The owner also came by and greeted everyone and spent time with each table of guests, talking to them and answering any questions or helping in whatever way she could. Every one of the items we ordered were Excellent !!!!!! The panko shrimp and the crispy soft shell crab were fried items but they were crisp and not greasy at all !!!!! My wife Loved them both !!!!!!! Each entree is served with its own decoration, and at least one of the flowers that came with the crispy soft shell crab was edible.... My apologies but I neglected to photograph the Philly roll and California roll. All of the Entree's and Appetizers were Excellent !!!!!!!! I look forward to eating here and trying out a lot more things on the menu. If you have trouble using chopstiks, they have a little gadget that you can use. You simply snap the top of each chopstik into and it provides the necessary assistance to correctly use chopstiks.... They also have standard eating utensils......Even my wife was impressed with the food and told the owner we would be back before I could !!!!!! We look forward to trying other menu items at Blu Fin !!!!!! Thank you to all the Staff for making it an enjoyable...

I tried Blu Fin Sushi because of all the beautiful yummy pictures and the great reviews........ However, I was pretty disappointed! Yes the presentation is great the pictures people are posting are true the food is "pretty" but the the taste was not anything exceptional. We ordered Bento boxes but the waiter apparently didn't understand that and gave one of us a dinner item instead which was more expensive and didn't come with the same things. When the food was served they were told of the mistake and yes they offered to change it out but of course we said no because that would just have been wasteful and would've taken longer. However, I think they should have gave it to us for the cost of the bento box because that is what we ordered. The miso soup tasted the same as the kind I buy in the package at the Asian Market. The gyoza dumplings were ok but I think those are also packaged as well. The salad dressing was good but they put way too much and the salad was drowning in it. I could go on about the rest of the food but again it was average nothing noteworthy. Of course we also ordered lunch sushi because that is what everyone is raving about. It came last, I can only assume that is because they must have ran out of rice... When it arrived the sushi rice was still warm which made the raw sushi warm and it just didn't taste the best. The rice just fell apart and was impossible to pick up with chopsticks, it was really just a mess. The California rolls were very bland and really didn't have any flavor. The sushi presentation was pretty fancy and would be fine if you weren't planning on sharing. Reaching for sushi over or around the glass of flowers is pretty awkward and could very easily turn into a disaster. I gave 3 stars because the presentation was cool, the servers were nice, although they should maybe start repeating the orders to avoid mistakes, and the food wasn't the worst. I made a reservation for around 10 people via online and later received a confirmation that my reservation was confirmed!! We arrived around 1ish and our table kind of took up the majority of the restaurant as it is a small sushi place. However, that did not effect our experience at all as we got amazing service!! The owner was their making the sushi himself and making sure everything was going correctly including other guest that came it! Our table order many appetizers and all of them were amazing!! A couple of people at my table were sushi lovers as others are not inclined to eat sushi as a first choice! However, they scarfed the appetizers down and them themselves were surprised on how good they were! A couple tried to eat the floral arrangement on the plates as they thought they were edible!! That was a laughable moment! Then we went to our entrées and the sushi lovers order as the others were full off of the appetizers. Then we went to deserts and when I tell you that the mochi deserts specifically the chocolate one is so smooth and yet creamy that the not sushi lovers made me order 3 more deserts plates and by the time they hit the table they too were scarfed down!! Overall amazing appetizers and deserts. Atmosphere was great and the bathroom were freaking awesome. Looked like I walked into a club!! Lol!
