A Hidden Gem That Deserves 3 Michelin Stars De Baca Steakhouse is, without question, one of the best dining experiences we've ever had; and it's only 45 minutes from Tomball, TX! Forget the long drive into Houston or The Woodlands; this place outshines them all.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a warm and welcoming hostess who made us feel like we had just traveled all the way from Canada for this meal. That level of hospitality set the tone for the rest of the evening.
Our server, Talon, was absolutely perfect; attentive, professional, and detailed without ever being overbearing. We were lucky to reconnect with the amazing Jim and Michaela, who we first met in Colorado and who now own this fantastic spot. Seeing them again and witnessing the incredible environment they’ve built here was truly special.
The Friesian NY Strip and the Friesian Filet were nothing short of phenomenal; perfectly cooked, beautifully seasoned, and bursting with flavor. And don’t even get me started on the fire-roasted mushrooms; they were so good we almost ordered another round just to take home.
We even had the opportunity to chat with Executive Chef Patrick, whose passion and skill clearly shine through in every dish. And as if that wasn’t enough, Manager Rusty personally came by to check on our experience; a classy touch that capped off an already perfect evening.
We finished with delicious espresso martinis, savoring every last moment in the restaurant's beautiful atmosphere, complete with a stunning view that made the whole night feel even more magical.
If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience with world-class food, unmatched hospitality, and an incredible ambiance, put De Baca Steakhouse at the top of your list. This place is a treasure; one that deserves serious recognition. Honestly, we’re still wondering how it hasn’t already earned 3...
Read moreThis is a beautiful new high-end restaurant that may still be experiencing some growing pains. We had the shrimp cocktail, Scottish salmon, a flat iron steak with shrimp, mushrooms and demi glase, and maple creme brulee.
The shrimp were a little tough and overdone, and there were not many of them. One was not fully deveined. The seasoning and cocktail sauce were well done. We had this with a Pistolero and a La Palomita. I wasn't a fan of the mezcal used in the Pistolero but the La Palomita was delicious.
Unfortunately right after our entrees came out, our server spilled a cocktail all over the table so we had to move and our food needed to be remade. He was very apologetic but it did put a damper on the evening (and a dampness on my suit).
Once everything was brought back, the entrees were delicious. The steak with demi glase in particular was excellent, and I liked that it came with roasted garlic. It paired nicely with the 'Chasing the Sun' cocktail.
We did get a complimentary dessert for our trouble, the maple creme brulee. It was decent, very rich and we couldn't finish it.
The dining room is nicely decorated and the window view is pretty. Service was on the slower side, and the iPad menus felt a little gimmicky. I think that with time this will be a good addition to the high end dining scene in B/CS, but I'm going to give...
Read moreWe chose to celebrate a birthday at this restaurant for our first visit. None of us had steak and I'd like to go back and have one sometime since they are advertised as a steakhouse. It is a pretty restaurant with a special occasion vibe.
We ordered the stuffed calamari because it sounded interesting - and it was interesting, but not something any of us would order again. One person had the salmon and it was a very nice portion, but it was severly over salted. Another had the chicken cordon bleu, again severly over salted and the third had the scallop risotto which was very good. The overly salted dishes were so salty that they may have been inadvertently salted twice.
The waitstaff was a bit overly ambitious, we felt rushed to order (the restaurant was less than half full and it was early evening so there was no clear reason to rush us) and we were inturupted multiple times while one of our party was obviously attempting to read something he had prepared to read to the table.
The happy hour drinks are definitly worth the price! This would be a nice place to stop in and have a drink and appetizers before or after an event. There is a nice patio and the view, while not spectacular as some have claimed, is better than almost any other...
