Weâve been waiting for the right opportunity visit Le Petit Cochon and it finally arrived!
Make reservations-
Le Petit Cochon Is a smaller restaurant- but appropriately so- approximately 50 seats at 15 or so tables. The decore and ambiance is open and light, unpretentious and welcoming.
We arrived early.
They open the bar at 4:30pm but donât start seating until 5:00. We intended to have a cocktail before dining. The staff was welcoming and friendly, greeting us on mass from their pre-shift meeting!
At the bar
We were immediately greeted and welcomed, and after requesting a Pinot were offered several tastes of their selections. The bartender was knowledgeable and friendly. Service was excellent. We settled on a nice light crisp white and a selection of one of their craft cocktails- for the record- try the Bitter Bee and the Whiskey Business! Also, we ordered the Charcuterie Board which was great! We stayed at the bar for a couple of rounds and watched the restaurant quickly fill prompting us to migrate to our table.
Weâre seated.
We love trying new restaurants! We shared an Escargot and Salade de Tomates de Saison, both of which were excellent. The tomatoes could have been ripened slightly longer but itâs nearly impossible to consistently get perfectly ripened, sweet beefsteak tomatoes, much less good tomatoes in general, so it is what it is. The Roquefort was the star of this dish and Roquefort it is! If you know, you know! ;-). The escargot was served with slices of toasted baguette. They were excellent! Really enjoyed!
Weâre full!
We set two of the three tomatoes aside to take home as we had already ordered entrees!
Oh Lord! I forgot about my soup!
I once had some French onion soup at a highly rated hotel that has a bunch of fountains (hint, hint) on the strip in Vegas. I love French onion soup and canât resist ordering it elsewhere in order to compare whenever I encounter it. Vegas isnât France, I know, but French onion soup is like beer in Germany, wine in Italy, or rakija in Bosnia⊠itâs made differently everywhere you go! Itâs fun and enjoyable to taste the differences. Le Petit Cochonâs broth is thick and rich, and even served with a pair of cheese scissors! Wow! Nailed it! Delicious and ⊠Iâm so full! I wonât finish it, but it is excellent! Taste vignettes. At this point- weâre done! Stick a fork in us! The best we can do is try the plates. We had the Truite aux Amandes and the Confit de Canard.
The trout was tender and light and could have been seasoned slightly more- but was good. That said, my pallet preference is bias to heavy seasoning which is not typically French. The plate is accompanied by roasted potatoes and French green beans which were perfectly al dente. I am not a fan of soggy, over cooked green beans. These were just right for us.
The duck. Ohhhh⊠the duck. Duck is a treat when prepared well. But duck can be greasy and gamey. Many shy away from ordering it for this very widely held consideration. Why risk it at a new place right? Well- thatâs exactly why! Besides- we did our research on Le Petit Cochon and being familiar with their other concept, 1860 Italia, were pretty comfortable with the bet. 1860 is outstanding! The duck was excellent! Winning! The meat was tinder and skin crispy. Well seasoned and just perfect. Whatâs more, the dish is accompanied by whipped sweet potatoâs topped with savory Brussels sprouts. The combination is outstanding! Really enjoyed it!
Dessert
If you know French cuisine you know desserts. Itâs hard to say anymore who makes the greatest desserts in the world, but thereâs little doubt French desserts are in the top percentage. I donât know French, but I assure you, I know dessert. I never miss one- even if itâs just a taste! And thatâs all you need of Le Petit Cochonâs GaÌteau Noir. This is a slice of dark, rich, chocolate cake. And it was delicious! Did I mention we were full?? The GaÌteau Noir didnât make it into the to-go bag. I suggest accompanying it with a glass of...

We have been to Le Petit Cochon a few times since our first visit and purchased gift certificates for friends occasions. We decided to go for Sunday Brunch. I really wanted to try the lobster Benedict and mom wanted to try the crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e French toast and of course my wife is always seeking a better avocado toast than I make. So we went. We ordered the plain coffee and got French press. Forget coffee refills! The signature lobster Benedict was lifeless. The hollandaise sauce was missing the lemon zip. It was basically not present. Think a thickened oil based sauce. Perhaps they are still working on how to not break the hollandaise. The avocado toast was good it the avocado was room temp and the eggs were perfect and the toast was warm. The avocado came with chopped tomatoes and bacon pretty tasty but the toast was a bit stale and it came through. The stellar standout was the crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e French toast it was fantastic. Large cranberries and a wonderful citrus taste that was creamy and sweet all at the same time. The syrup would have been great served warm but the cold maple syrup didnât take too much away. In fact, the sweetness it provided was not all that important to the dish.
*Old review * Try out the new restaurant, my wife said and my mom said I wanna try out that new pig place. So for momâs birthday we took her to Le Petit Cochon. We started with racelette au fromage it was two generous slices of toasted French bread with melted cheese. They toasted the cheese on the wheel and scrapped it table-side onto the bread. It was great and would have been enough for a share among 5 people easy. We then had the Gratinee lyonnaise or French onion soup another huge hit. It was thick and semi-sweet with a bouquet of fresh onion. The cheeses was amazing, sticky and stringy â exactly what you would expect. Best of all it wasnât salty a crime committed to most French onion soups. We then had the salad hachee. Delicious! Fresh, crisp, and with a tangy finish and the blue cheese was high quality creamy and delicate for a blue cheese. We had the duck, the fish stew and the pork chop for the mains. The duck was a generous serving of breast along with a leg quarter on sweet potato purĂ©e. Best duck I have eaten in years. The Bouillabaisse (fish stew) had ample amount of shrimp, mussels, clams, and two tires of fish, salmon and a white fish. It was served with 6 large croutons to soak up the tomato based soup. It was thin but robust with a hint of Rosemary and garlic. The pork chop was also served with sweet potato purĂ©e. We finished it off with profiteroles. I could have started and ended with that dessert. The chocolate sauce was exquisite - creamy, rich, thick, and robust. I rarely give 5 stars. Usually the food quality is great but the price is outlandish or the quantity requires a stop off at a favorite fast food restaurant on the way home. But this was just right. Portions were generous the food quality was extraordinary. Compared to other local restaurants this was a value 5âïž restaurant. You would have paid twice the price at...
Read moreMy fiancĂ©e and I came in today to have a relaxing and much-needed date night before I head out of town for an extended period. We were really looking forward to a nice evening, but what should have been a special night turned into an absolute nightmare. We were patient and excited to be there, but after waiting for over 25 minutes for our second round of drinks, they finally arrived â and her drink was completely wrong. Iâm not talking about a small mistake â it was totally off. At that point, I couldâve overlooked it, but after sending it back to be remade, it came back "close enough" but still not what we ordered.
Now, I get that mistakes happen â no oneâs perfect. But the real issue came when the manager (Mark), who was the one to remake the drink, dropped it off at our table. This man was unbelievably rude. Instead of apologizing for the delay or the mistake, he essentially blamed my fiancĂ©e for the entire situation. She had ordered a simple, standard drink, and all she did was ask for it to be made correctly. But this manager decided to speak to her like she was the one who did something wrong. His tone was condescending, dismissive, and downright disrespectful.
There is absolutely no excuse for this level of treatment â especially from someone in a management position. Itâs one thing to make a mistake, but itâs completely another to blame the customer for that mistake and treat them like theyâre at fault. My fiancĂ©e didnât deserve to be spoken to that way, and honestly, no one does. We were calm, respectful, and understanding throughout the entire ordeal, but that didn't matter to this manager. He showed zero empathy or basic decency, and the way he spoke to us was beyond disrespectful.
Itâs not just about the drink being wrong, though. Itâs about the complete lack of professionalism and basic human decency. This man made us feel small and insignificant for something that was entirely his fault. For a manager to behave this way is unacceptable, and it left a terrible taste in our mouths, far worse than any wrong drink ever could.
Iâve worked in customer service myself, and I know that mistakes are inevitable, but the way you handle them says everything about your character. The way this manager handled this situation was not only unprofessional, but downright appalling. It was clear that he had no regard for how we felt or how to make things right. Itâs one thing to have a bad experience, but itâs a whole different level of unacceptable to be treated with that kind of arrogance and rudeness.
We will never be coming back to this establishment. I donât care how great the food or drinks might be; the way we were treated is unforgivable. I will make sure to tell anyone I know about this experience because no one deserves to be treated the way we were. This kind of behavior shouldnât be tolerated in any business, especially not from someone in a position of power. If you canât treat your customers with respect, then you donât deserve...
