Stella has great food, but it always seems to miss the mark on amazing for me. Before I go into detail I will say that I keep ordering this dish because it's easy and I like it, but I do not come to Stella for it. Most often, someone else wants Stella and I'm just tagging along

Most recently I have been ordering their Avocado Toast with Basted Eggs. The eggs are perfect, but the avocado toast is severely lacking and here is why:

1. They serve two large pieces of toast but with very little avocado on them. I'd average its a <1/4 in spread over each piece of toast. This is the name sake of the dish and it feels like I'm getting less than 1/2 of a small avocado. For me this is too little and it would be better if everything was on a single piece if you're not going to serve more.

2. The bread is not good and I mean this in the nicest way. Stella is known for their homemade biscuits and the bread they use for this toast is hard and dense. I don't know the origin story behind this bread but there is nothing about it that wants me to eat it again (and I'm a fiber nut).

PS - Avocado toast is a favorite for those who eat low-carb and and easy option on the menu when everything is served with grits or biscuits. But if you are eating low carb, the bread is an indulgence. This bread does not add anything to the avocado toast aside from being a vehicle for the avocado & toppings.

3. Toppings are unnecessary for a good avocado toast, but if you're going to do them then they should be done right. The combination of the pepitas and beets is tasty (no queso for me), but the beets are always awkward to eat. Personal preference would be skinnier and shorter slivers over the large chopped chunks that they currently serve. The toppings as they are now aren't bad, but they also don't work proportionally with the amount of avocado being served.

I'll still continue to order this if the menu doesn't change, but when I really want a good avocado toast I will not come here.
