We always LOVE to come to Stella! Today was a bit problematic though. We arrived and it was a line out the door (as expected). I assured my family that the experience and food is worth the wait, because this was their first time. We finally arrived at the ordering counter, where a woman who I assume is newer (we have only seen her on one other occasion a few weeks ago). My boyfriend and I order first, then go sit at a table to wait for the rest of the family to order and pay out. My mom came up to me, very frustrated, because the lady taking our order STILL could not figure out my very few modifications to my meal. I go up there and explain everything to her and another worker, and the other worker seems to catch on to my requests (which are not complicated at all) quickly. Mind you - I order the same exact meal every time and I’ve never had an issue. The original order taker was still confused after I explained it several more times, but after several minutes, figures it out. My family was giving me a look like I was crazy because I talked extremely high of this place, so I said “I never have this much of an issue.” The order taker then replies something about it’s her first time taking this order and tried to guilt trip us into thinking she started yesterday - LIAR! 😂 She’s the one that took our order just a few weeks ago, where she also had issues! In conclusion, I am begging y’all to put people behind that counter that are more competent, because this is most likely one of the first interactions each customer has. I have been in the service industry for years, and it is NOT for everyone and some people are just bad at it. On top of that, some of our food took a long time to get out, and by the time I got my order, everyone was finished. Overall, I’m sticking with 5 stars ONLY because the food was still amazing and the general manager (I can’t remember his name) went above and beyond to compensate for all the trouble. We are not people that complain, and even after today, I will still talk very highly of this place. So thank you to the amazing GM that made it right! We...

Stella has great food, but it always seems to miss the mark on amazing for me. Before I go into detail I will say that I keep ordering this dish because it's easy and I like it, but I do not come to Stella for it. Most often, someone else wants Stella and I'm just tagging along

Most recently I have been ordering their Avocado Toast with Basted Eggs. The eggs are perfect, but the avocado toast is severely lacking and here is why:

  1. They serve two large pieces of toast but with very little avocado on them. I'd average its a

I don't mind so much standing in line to order a meal. Although there wasn't much on the menu that was appealing, I do like a good biscuit and like trying new things. After placing our orders, we we're expected to pay (including a tip) before we were served. I do mind that. So, no tip at that time. ( I can leave cash later.) We seated ourselves, which is fine. The decor has some interesting things: glass canning jars transformed into lights hanging from ladders around the center of the room, partial murals with mountains (in Texas??), interesting seat backs on the benches. Our meals were served promptly by a man wearing a chefs jacket. Southern Eggs Benedict for me. The biscuit was heavy and the gravy was tasteless, the eggs were perfect. My husband's eggs were overdone, the home fries not seasoned and the ham was thin and curled (over cooked). The same person who served came back and asked how the food was. My husband said "all right". The server just stared at him for a couple of minutes, then said "That's not what we want to hear, we like to hear "Amazing". I told him it was NOT amazing, in fact it was barely good. When my husband explained the problems with his meal, he was told some story about country ham versus Virginia ham. Then he just walked away. No apology, no comp for an inadequate meal. His excuse was a complete fabrication since my family has made ham for years from raising the animal to putting ham on the table. Long story, I know if I had read a review like this, we would not have gone there. It's supposed to be a Southern Cafe. I'm from the South and the only southern things were biscuits and gravy (sub par). No cash was left on the table. We...

The food is delicious. Their biscuits and gravy, varieties of jams, house made orange juice, avocado toast, and cappuccino are just a few of their most tasty options. UPDATE: Now that I have moved to the area, I have come here with my family of 6 often. It is usually busy, and being a family of 6 with four small children ages 7, 6, 4, and 3, we do not fit at most of their tables. Usually, so that my children are not getting antsy in the long ordering line and to grab a 6-top table, my husband takes the kids to a table, and I wait to order. Well, yesterday, for my daughter's birthday, she was asking for Stella's biscuits, so we headed in to make her day special. Instead, the staff (Jennifer) walked over to my husband and said these seats are first come first serve and he said yes, my wife is third in line to order behind two couples. She repeated, these seats are first come first serve. He said (with four children circling his feet) are you telling me not to sit here? She repeated these seats are first come first serve. So, he tried to speak with her again, but she would only repeat herself, and that is when we left. I recommend Stella not lose sight of the community they serve. We have always recommended this café to locals and out of towners, and as my original review stated, they used to provide exceptional customer service. This time, instead of reading the situation and using best judgement to understand that it was truly okay for my family to have a seat while I ordered, Jennifer rigidly repeated company policy and lost out on our business and our trust. We went elsewhere for my daughter's birthday celebration.

We picked this place based on the local reviews, pictures, and because they served Beignets. It's a stand in line to order rather than a get seated first kind of place. The food was good but a little pricey for an 'order at the counter' type restaurant, but that could also be why we didn't have a single waiter. We had several different people come help us each time we had to ask for something. But everyone was happy to help we just had to ask anyone whenever we could get their attention. We're not from the area so we weren't familiar with this restaurants style of service needles to say as we waited a good while for anyone to come over to ask us if we wanted anything to drink we even joked around that we weren't leaving whomever our server is a good tip at first but ended leaving possibly the manager or owner with a better than normal tip approx 30% I guess we should've asked for water also while we were ordering at the counter. It wasn't that busy in there but the one waitress on the floor walked by our table several times before we had to stop her to ask for some water. Than later a kind man from the back brought out our food, and after that we had to stop different people for any help. But at the end of our meal I believe she may have been manager or owner cause she stepped up to assist with any further service. Other than that we did receive fair enough service overall. And the Beignets were delicious but the best was the Gingerbread Chai Latte that we ended up also getting two more to go 😀

Wow!!! Wow!!! Wow!!! The food was so good I forgot to get pictures! Stella’s makes most everything in house and it shows. Soooooo Good! Husband had the biscuits and sausage gravy with soft scrambled eggs and bacon. I ordered Avocado toast with 2 eggs over easy and the Beignets. The sausage gravy tastes as good as if I had made it at home (only difference is I like lots of pepper). The Avocado toast was a perfect blend of flavors starting with toasted SCRATCH-MADE bread fresh smashed avocado seasoned pepitas and homemade pickled red onions. House brewed coffee was deliciously balanced. Everyone was pleasant and provided good service. When I ordered the Beignets, I was expecting to be disappointed, BUT I was served some of the lightest perfectly-fried, clearly-made-with-fresh-dough, powder sugar coated, clouds of joy I have ever had outside of Louisiana. We had avoided going to Stella’s because of the long line to get inside, BUT from now on I will joyfully stand in line. The soul reviving food is worth the wait! I plan on ordering the grits next time. Super picky unnecessary critiques: 1- The soft scramble eggs needed a touch more salt as did the over easy eggs. 2-When the restaurant is full, voices echo and it could be loud, so I would likely opt to sit on the patio next time. 3- We had to ask the server for coffee refills.
