Our family travels regularly and we frequently utilize Courtyard Marriott hotels. This was undoubtedly the worst experience we have had at any hotel establishment. I have never written a poor review but this one is well deserved! At the time of check in, we advised the front desk we were going to pay for our 2 rooms with cash. She advised us of their process which, obviously, included keeping a credit/debit card on hold. We were directly advised that our card WOULD NOT BE CHARGED but, you guessed it, 24hrs later that is exactly what occurred. When we spoke to the manager, the next day, we were told it was simply a "training issue" and that the individual who checked us in did not know how the system worked. The manager half heartedly apologized then advised us that even if they were to cancel the transaction it would take 3 to 5 business days to recoup our money and we would be "better off just leaving it alone". This caused us to spend a large portion of our second day of "vacation" contacting every company set to auto draft a bill, explain the situation, and hope that we wouldn't accumulate a pile of overdraft fees. No true apology or any form of compensation was ever offered, pretty much just a "sorry for ya". The rooms were dirty. There was mold growing on the ceiling of the bathroom, wallpaper peeling above the beds, a mildew smell throughout the floor, mold growing INSIDE THE KEURIG, no trash bags in the trash cans with old garbage stuck to the inside of the cans, and the refrigerator did not cool, even if set to "coldest". Room service: The first day we hung the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. After that the sign was taken down but for the next 2 days we never received room service, for either of our rooms. Each night we inquired about it and had to request fresh towels but the corrections were never made. Positives: The beds were very comfortable and the Bistro / lounge were also very nice.
All in all I am very disappointed. These issues, customer service and cleanliness, have never been an issue for us at any Courtyard Marriott. Perhaps this was an isolated incident and we just happened to be the unlucky crew destined to endure it. Hopefully some corrections can be made so others don't share the same experience. I've attempted to upload pictures but unfortunately have been...
Read moreUpdate: We came home from the game and the room was even more wet. The kids pullout beds by was actually wet and the smell was so awful. We said we’d like to leave the hotel if they can’t offer another room and they said they couldn’t refund us the hotel night we’re not staying and to call the general manager in the morning.
Just to recap, we can’t stay in our room because it’s wet. The floors are so wet you have to wear shoes and slip on the bathroom tile. They don’t have fans, dehumidifiers, or another room. So we just wanted to leave and not be charged for the night were night staying and that’s something to be decided another day with the general manager.
Original: We’re currently staying here and I would not recommend. When we walked into our hotel last night the floor was soaking wet and smelled awful like mildew. We told the front desk and they said there weren’t any other rooms, maintenance would look at it. We got back and they said they didn’t know and couldn’t fix it. We asked for fans and they said they didn’t have any.
Woke up this morning and our clothes are wet and the room is even more wet and gross. Told the front desk and asked for them to get a fan or dehumidifier and they said no.
Theres no discount for the nights we’ve been dealing with this. We’re in town for a football game and there’s no rooms available elsewhere. Even if we checked out tonight, we’d still have to pay for the hotel night stay.
This is quite possibly the grossest room we’ve ever been in.
This is our third Marriot stay this summer and it’s our last. We’re canceling future trips we have booked with marriot. He travels a lot with work and was switching from Hilton to marriot loyalty by recommendations of friends, but this last stay has confirmed our decision that Marriott’s aren’t customer focused nor take pride in their quality/cleanliness of their hotels.
The location is great and the...
Read moreBeds are good, room smelled horrible, and don't expect ANY help, kindness or sympathy from staff if there's a problem with your stay. I had to grab a room last minute due to a family emergency. Called ahead and spoke to a very nice gentleman. He told me the discount rate for the hospital guests was $99 and to come on in, they have plenty of rooms so I didn't need to make a reservation over the phone. Bad mistake. Came in very late at night after leaving the ICU across the street. The man I spoke to wasn't there, and the woman at the desk told me the hospital rate for a two bed room was $119. The money difference wouldn't have been that big of a deal if she had been sympathetic and kind in her explanation. She was neither. We came in at 12:15 am wearing ICU visitor badges, and she couldn't have been ruder. When I explained how I got my information, she told my mother and I that we were welcome to go to another hotel. She basically treated us like we were lying. No apology for the miscommunication, just hostility. We were way too tired and spent to leave, so we booked the room. Once she had the credit card she told us that it will actually be $129 for two beds, BUT, she will give it to us for $119 so there "won't be any more problems". I spoke to the manger, Becca, the next morning only to inform her how her night shift treated her customers. I was not looking for a refund or a free stay. She cut us off letting us know that she was already aware of the situation. She listened patiently when I explained the complete situation and how it offended us, but we got the feeling she didn't believe a word we were saying and was fairly condescending, in a nice way. She apologized and wished us well as we left to find another hotel. Very disappointing. If you need a room close to the hospital with average beds and don't care how you're treated, this is the...
