We always love coming to this location! It is close to home and staff is wonderful. We have been coming here for years. Scott was one of our first servers we met after we moved here. He always made us feel so welcome and took time to make sure we had what we needed. This kept us coming back. One day when we came in he was filling in for management (he is GREAT at this- works so well with the staff, problem solver, communicates well and ALWAYS comes around to check on all the customers, plus so warm and friendly) so he had Dustin wait on us. By our 2nd visit Dustin knew our drink order (after several weeks between visits) and made us feel like family. Tonight was no different. We came in for dinner, the kitchen was swamped and we were told it would be a bit before we could be seated. We said, "No problem, we don't mind waiting". We had come in just to see Dustin and get a great meal! We are never disappointed. His warm smile, friendly manner, and he is so polite it just makes you want to keep coming back. Over time we have met his Brother Bryan who is also a server here (fantastic as well!). They take such great care of us, make sure our meal is perfect and can even take a bit of ribbing. We apologized to Charity (who we just met tonight) if we kept Dustin from doing his work (thankfully we were his only customers for a little bit). It is really nice to get to know the staff and to be treated like family all while getting a great meal. Hang on to this great staff and see the potential you have working for you, most college towns don't keep staff for long. Scott, Dustin, Bryan thanks for making us feel so special each time we come in. We really look forward to seeing you! FYI - Madison, Avery and Drew are also...
Read moreI was reluctant at first to give it a 4 rating, but the service helped it get there.
So my wife and I were visiting town and she recommended the Cotton Patch, since she had been to the one in Bryan, and she liked that one. Service was good and that's a big plus.
However, the food was left wanting. But before I start, let me point out I noticed a whole lot of retired folks during this lunch time visit.
So I ordered the fried catfish, my wife ordered the smothered chop steak and we had fried pickles as an appetizer. The catfish had the "wild" taste to it. I asked the server if the catfish was farm raised. She left, came back and said it was. My wife both agreed that wasn't farm raised. If it was, it wasn't from a catfish farm that I'm used to. Now I prefer farm raised catfish, but I have done wild catfish, when it's done correctly. (correctly is point of view, so don't get all riled up) In my opinion, cornmeal should always be used for frying catfish . . . period. And if you're frying wild cat, use some seasoning. The catfish and the breading were kind of bland, and I attributed that to all the senior citizens there.
I say this because the chopped steak my wife ordered tasted bland as well. It was smothered in mushrooms and onions with either a gravy or a sort of anjous. But it didn't stand out.
Now the fried pickles were great. The breading used gave them a nice flavor and texture. Thumbs up on that one.
To give the place a fair shake, my wife and will most likely return and try the burgers or something. Still gave them a 4 thanks to...
Read moreThis review is in regards to their customer service and handling of their mistake. I ordered from Cotton Patch via phone call for a meal that needed to be delivered by a specific time. I tried to do it online but did not have the option to order for a scheduled delivery. I called the restaurant to find out my options. The person who answered was friendly and helpful and assured me I could order and get the food on time. I explained the importance of the timeliness of the delivery, as it had to do with work. Online it looked like Cotton Patch did the delivery themselves. The employee did not tell me otherwise, just reminding me of the flat delivery fee. I gave her the address at least twice. By 5 PM when my client arrived, the food had not. I had a 4 PM client so I could not check my phone. When I did at 5 it was from Door Dash saying my food had been delivered. It was not. It was delivered to the wrong address on the other side of town, a round trip of 30 minutes at the minimum. I only had an hour for my session. I called Cotton Patch and they blamed Door Dash. I called Door Dash who informed me that they get the address from Cotton Patch. They then transferred me over to Cotton Patch who said they’d reimburse me. They never did. I wish I could explain more, how pertinent all of this was and why, but I cannot, but it was so important and I was so satisfied with the phone call when I ordered the food that I have no idea how it went wrong and how they did not fix it. I love their food but out of principle I cannot go...
