Meh. I love Thai food. I cook it (quite well) frequently. When I travel it is one of my go-to choices. Based on the other reviews here, I expected great things from Thai Basil Bistro. I was disappointed. To begin with I chose the restaurant because they have Panang Duck on the menu. They also have Yum Nua on the menu. I try to order these in every Thai restaurant so I can compare. The didn't have duck. I was stuck with beef. I ordered what I expected to be Thai spring rolls. They were much more Chines egg rolls. Also, the sauce was not Thai honey-chili, it was some sweet glue substance. The rolls were salty; they need to change the oil in the deep fryer, I think. The beef salad was full of non-Thai veggies and lots of filler. It wasn't spicy either. It was also too salty for my taste. The beef was good in the salad The curry was watery, 90% carrots, onions, green beans, and bell peppers. There was very little beef. The beef in the curry was not nearly as good as the beef in the salad. The service was fine, but the food was a...
Read morei am so happy that we got to go to this place as a recommendation. it was a bit far and I was blown away to find this gem. i was so amazed and excited with the flavors of the Evil jungle princess - I forgot to take the picture. Great medley of veggies and an amazing flavor profile. amongst my new favorite EJP dish I have had. it beats the EJP at Thai orchid at Blue bell which was my previous favorite . It's been a worthwhile drive for this meal , amazing service. the owners were amazing, its family owned and it shows in their hospitality. we were blown away by the Taro ice cream and the iconic Thai mangoes with sticky rice. you can save the money to go to Thailand for food. sample it at this place. The deserts here were at the next level. they should be known for exotic deserts as well. not sure how many people would have had a in house made taro ice cream at other places. Even if you've had dinner somewhere else, you should make it to this place for desserts. the desert photos had to be clicked quickly before the spoons...
Read moreAfter reading some reviews on here I was hesitant. The food (I had chicken green curry and a golden wrap) and service were great, however I would like to see how it compares on a busy night. I have been to a number of Thai and Asian eateries in the area and while this one isn't my new favorite, I appreciate its location in Collegeville, and would certainly return. My mom and I were the only ones at the restaurant on a Thursday night. Our waitress was very polite and nice to us. No leftovers for me! Green curry was what I expected. It actually could have been a little spicier, but perhaps the dish varies depending on the chef. My wrap appetizer came out piping hot but had a good flavor, not sure about the prices of some of the appetizers though. The BYOB is a plus; they are literally right across the shopping center from a wine & spirits with a decent...
