This is my favorite Japanese restaurant in all of the 901.
This small unassuming place in a strip mall is just... amazing. Their sushi is the best. They cover all of the classic rolls and have some great specialty rolls. The nigiri is so well done. None is skimpy or slap-dash like it seems every other place has gone to. The prices are very reasonable.
There are so many great options for people who do not like sushi. It's one of my go-to business lunch locations. I've never had someone in a group unhappy with it. It has that acoustic balance where you can hear conversation at the table but don't feel like others can hear you.
Then there's the service. They've retained the same staff for years, and are amazing. Unobtrusive, attentive, and very friendly.
I've gotten to the point where I know all of them and they know that I'm going to order 1 of 3 things. Walking in the door is like Cheers for me. A smile and warm greeting.
For the first 2 years of the pandemic, I only made it out there once with my daughter. They remembered me, my order, and were so great with her first foray into sushi.
A year later I came back and they remembered that it had been a year, that I brought my daughter, and said how much they enjoyed that.
When I do go somewhere else, I'm always disappointed. It's inevitably more expensive and worse quality. And because of the staff I almost feel guilty like I'm cheating on them :).
If you're looking for Japanese food, just go here. It's not some loud Hibachi place, the food is much better, and you'll always...
Read moreThis was my first visit to a sushi restaurant in Tennessee since our move here in 2022. My daughter was visiting from Oklahoma and I wanted to surprise her with sushi for lunch. Based on the Google reviews that I had read, I chose this restaurant over other local establishments.
We eached ordered lunch box specials and shared a Chili Roll and a Mississippi Roll. Although the lunch boxes were very good, the star of our dining experience was the Chili Roll. The salmon was out of this world. It honestly was the best roll that both she and I have ever had, anywhere.
We had both never tried crawfish before, and decided to share a Mississippi Roll. The speciality rolls are nice in size and honestly we did order too much for the two of us, however, one can never have too much sushi. Neither of us were impressed with the Mississippi Roll. We both figured that it must be an acquired taste.
The food was very fresh, the lunch boxes alone would definitely be filling (we actually didn't finish them as we wanted to try the specialty rolls).
The service and timelines of food preparation were both superb. We truly appreciated our dining experience.

Read moreI went with my family there for dinner as my daughter asked a treat for her 15th birthday. A gentleman at the front desk asked us to wait for a few minutes to be seated and he went to the back of the restaurant. So we sat down on the bench next to the door. Initially, there was no waiting crowd at that time. and we could see a couple of seats empty. Then about 5 min later, few customers started coming in for dinner and some came to pick up phone orders. A lady came to the front desk and she started seating customers who came after us. After seating three tables, we politely reminded her that we came before them and are waiting to be seated. she asked us to wait in a rude manner and she said she has to attend to other customers who were waiting, completely ignoring the fact that we were waiting before them. She was very rude and tried to avoid eye contact with us. She could have just said sorry to us and could have put us in the next available space. One of the customers who was waiting with us heard our conversation and he said he was sorry for us. The lady in the front desk made us feel that we were not welcome there. We decided to not spoil our evening and left that place for another restaurant. We will not visit that...
