1/1/2025 we ate at the Colonial Heights location. The in house manager Liynesse (sp) took us to our table. I guess she did not pay much attention because the table was sticky and there were napkins and a fork on the floor underneath the table. We said, oh well, and remained. Liyneese also did not provide any bread. When our waitress arrived, she said you guys do not have any bread and asked if someone had been sitting here before us.. Guess she noticed the dirty table? Because we sat so close to the front, I saw countless people seated and they all got bread. Liyneese explained that they did not have bread upon our seating. Honestly, that was just not true as I could see everyone behind us got bread. Oh well.
We all ordered steaks. Although my husband and I were shocked at how tiny both our steaks were......... it was our granddaughter's steak that took the show. She and I asked for medium rare. Her Andy steak (kids meal) was very thick (2 inches plus) was cooked rare as rare could be. When our steaks came to the table our waitress never asked us to check them. Ran them out then took off. Before she hurried off I asked for Worcestershire sauce. We proceeded to look at our steaks and found our grands was almost completely raw. Hubby got loaded potatoes and they did not give him butter. I asked for Worcestershire sauce. Well, neither came until we were done with our steaks. We were also still waiting to ask for a new steak for our grand. We watched our waitress take the order of the table behind us as we realized she was not bringing the condiments requested or checking on our meal. Hubby and I ate our steaks.. our grand just sat there. Husband had to ask another waitress to get our waitress. My hubby mentioned she failed to bring us the butter and Worcestershire sauce. For some reason, she brought us some after we had eaten. Our grand's steak showed up 15 mins later brought to us by the manager. It was half the size of the original and also, rare. We just took it even though it was rare. We explained to the manager how our meal went.. It was not good, not pleasant or enjoyable at all. We spent a lot of money and expected to have good food and service. We did not receive any of that and honestly, not sure if we will ever return. I am hoping someone in charge will read this and try to make service and quality better for someone else. I would like to say our waitress did fill our drinks up and that was nice. Lastly, I overheard our waitress (as I was leaving) walk up to the manager and say in a very smart aleck voice, what did they say. I did not listen and continued to leave. I probably would have lost my cr@p on her if I stuck around. It was not a good experience. They did not charge us for our grands steak at least.
UPDATE- I got a reply from TR. Sent them everything they asked for. Awaiting an...

I recently visited Texas Roadhouse with my girlfriend, and what started as a celebratory dinner quickly turned into a profoundly uncomfortable experience that I feel compelled to share.
As a couple who identifies as Black, we were excited to enjoy a meal together. After placing our order, we were hopeful for a pleasant evening. However, upon receiving our food, we noticed that our server, Kaylee, placed our meals down and left us alone for a mere 3-5 minutes before returning to ask if we wanted boxes. Confused, as we had just received our meals, we brushed it off.
Within about 5-10 minutes, Kaylee returned – this time demanding ALL of our menus, including the one under my girlfriend’s phone. This felt excessive and unnecessary, especially without any explanation. We complied, but soon began to feel uneasy. It became painfully clear that in a predominantly white section, we were the only ones singled out in this way, with no other diners having their menus removed.
When I inquired with another staff member, Kenzie, she appeared confused but stated that Kaylee was just cleaning off the menus. The humorous part of this story is when Kaylee checked on us again – this time with no menus in hand, which only confirmed our suspicions about her motives.
When we voiced our discomfort and explained how the situation felt racially charged, Kaylee's response was a dismissive offer to involve a manager rather than addressing our concerns sympathetically. The manager listened but merely suggested we switch servers – an inadequate response to a serious issue.
It’s disheartening to think that in 2025, we still face such blatant acts of discrimination that go unaddressed in the service industry. Had we not been a Black couple, I can only imagine the response would have been different.
I urge Texas Roadhouse to train their staff on implicit bias and how to handle situations with sensitivity and empathy. No one should feel unsafe or marginalized while dining out. Our experience could have been an opportunity for the restaurant to show support and understanding, but instead, it reinforced feelings of isolation.
I hope sharing this encourages not just a conversation but tangible change within the establishment. We all deserve a welcoming environment, free from discrimination. (Update: No we did not get reimbursed for our experience but I can guarantee that if we were being a "Karen" about it we would've been. Instead we were...

Their food is consistently delicious. My favorite are the ribs, well seasoned and actually "fall off the bone". The sides are well prepared and delicious. My family members who are not allergic to shellfish assure me that the shrimp are really good. I have never had a bad steak. Their rolls with delicious cinnamon butter are a treat. Once, they were not baked all the way through, and the staff immediately credited our card. With the pandemic, they began curbside service, and I feel they have made curbside service an art. Other companies should take note and do it like Texas Roadhouse.
Update January 2022 We ordered online for curb pickup. My husband waited for over 20 minutes while repeated texts said our meal was ready. He gave up and went in, and at that point, he was told that there were no ribs available. He selected wings as a replacement and waited 15 minutes for the order. There were no rolls, a salad was missing, 1/2 of a dessert was missing, all this after being altogether over an hour late. We ordered from TR for a special going-away dinner, and the bill came to over $90. With the cash tip we normally give, it would have been well over $100. (We were food servers in college and always give a cash tip in addition to what we charge). We have always been very happy with TR, as you can tell from my previous review. However, this has really soured me on them. I take my stars down to 3. I did contact the restaurant the night this happened and haven't heard anything from them.
Update Feb 2022. I heard from their corporate office. They sent me a lovely email with a heartfelt apology and a gift certificate. I have raised the rating back to 5 stars. The food is really good, and while I was very upset with a truly awful experience, anyone can have a bad day. Like I said, we were servers in college, and stuff happens I don't recommend a big order on a Sunday evening. They do seem to run out of stuff, but the whole country is adjusting to supply chain issues. I'll give them another try, and I hope I won't have to...
