KFC — Restaurant in Colorado Springs

KFC overall has been going downhill for a while. The recipe is different. The service is usually trash. The locations are usually rundown disasters. So I've been avoiding them for years. But I woke up this morning wanting some fried chicken and since this location just got completely renovated I thought I would give KFC another shot. So I was surprised that I had a great experience here today.

Wow this building is beautiful inside and outside. Super bright and clean. Bathrooms are nice. The lobby is nice. You can see into the kitchen and it looks very clean. Parking as been repaved so it's smoother than a baby's bottom now. The employee were so nice, I haven't been in a KFC in years so I was asking Hanna (I think that's her name) questions about the new items and about the restaurant and she was so helpful and informative.

I had three pieces of crispy chicken (two thighs one drumstick), mashed potatoes, and Mac cheese. The chicken was very solid. Freshly made, hot, crispy, and juicy. Mac and the potatoes were warm, pretty solid flavor but not what they used to be decades ago. Overall a solid lunch meal and I think I might visit this KFC again in the...

NEVER AGAIN. NEVER. My mom and I rode here, only to find some of the parking lot was suddenly pick-up only.

Ok, fine, we'll just park on the other side, and walk in. Nope, lobby closed, but drive-thru is still open.

Ok, fine....tried ordering two of the meals with the chicken pot pies, only to be told they only have one, would we like to wait 22 minutes? HELL NO, we don't want to wait over 20 minutes! Why advertise something like that when you never have it ready?

Other KFCs here have had this same problem, even BEFORE Covid, so that's no excuse!Instead, we only ordered one of the pot pie meals for another family member, my mom orders chicken tenders, and I just got a chicken sandwich and small fries. The meal didn't even come with the usual cookie. And the cookie my mom got was much smaller than they used to be.

I asked for BBQ sauce to go with my sandwhich, and none was given. The fries were way too salty, even compared to other fast food places. And $3 for a SMALL order of fries? Pathetic. Not only that, the other family member said the pot pie was very plain..no flavor like he remembered.

Bad service, bad food, bad prices....

After the vehicle ahead of us left in a huff we got to listen to the employees talking rudely because they left the headset on. Guess they wanted to close early. Anyway, after we said hello they said something to the other about us being there and then turned off the headset and refused to take our order.

Totally our bad because we tried again. But its been so long we thought it has to have improved. We ordered just 1 meal. Simple stuff. They parked us for "fresh fries". After 10 minutes I called to ask if we would still be getting "fresh fries" and were assured they were just coming up. Then we were served cold fries. The manager was nice and refunded our money and he was super chill about it. But at the end of the day they are one of 2 of the worst kfc's in Springs. Two thumbs down!

UPDATE 1Year later..... Still the worst KFC in Colorado. Accidentally ordered original recipe, realizing after digging through a bucket of mush why we never do that. Had asked for extra drumsticks and was given half wings half thighs. So that was awful. Just horrible food....
