Other than giving everybody a single page menu that said senior menu but was written in tiny font - my post covid-19 visit seemed like they had my health at the front focus, so consequently we had my ninety-year-old grandfather's birthday there!
Reply- (I had asked if I could have an old menu which I realized would then need to be sanitized - not available), but since we had 2 people with vision challenges I just read the menu, since you don't have enough people in there it wasn't very embarrassing for my father like it normally is, but we eat there enough we kind of knew (sides change) what everybody was going to get when they said what do you think about Black Eyed Pea for Grandpa's birthday! I said great precautions for everyone!
And honestly the only thing I missed it since he turned 90 and that means there's obviously few opportunities to have it done left in his life - would be embarrassing him with a group of people singing to him!) The only other thing is that I don't remember seeing desert on your menu and I wanted to get him some chocolate cake Apple pie, something like that to go, even though we took home 5 to go boxes- for a party of 4! We did get him a 6 pack of your cornbread (the extra box) to go for his birthday! Aside from always getting stuff like desserts to go, you serve a good amount of food for a good price and it needs noted and that your covid-19 procations are truly top-notch!
If you are not advertising on the social media things that I don't use and your page whose address I would imagine is blackeyed pea.com but I don't know, I think that you should put that everyone is wearing masks, everyone is wearing gloves, the person that brings you your food will not take away your dirty plates or any other dirty plates and those are just a few things I had noticed that are not being done consistently while looking for a place to have his birthday party - I think it might get you more business but we did plan his birthday party or 3 on a Wednesday afternoon because he's also hard of hearing which is something that comes with being 90! We really had a great time and there's only minor things and I'm sure the waitress asked if we wanted any dessert - but that's something I do off to the side and then he has a surprise at dinner time when he gets home much like with the cornbread, so I don't remember 100% if we were asked - I would say 90% though, but the tears hurt my grandfather's shoulder and new hip so when he said he was ready to go I put my food in my to-go box and we left so that he could be more comfortable because I can eat the food whenever and for us it's more important that he is comfortable and we already knew for us it was going to be two meals and for an average price of $11, and since I got chicken fried chicken I think it was 13 but still that's $6.50 for lunch and for dinner - which makes it literally less than fast food! And that's why I think if you're not advertising your covid-19 precautions, I think you definitely should be, because I had stopped into a couple of other places because I was thinking 90 years old needs to be special not something we do regularly, but I just was not happy with their precautions at all and if that information was widely advertised or I used social media because you very well might have it on Insta or the Tweet thing or Facebook - but I don't use those things and I think with the length of time that this has gone on it is time for Google Maps to add something in this restaurant offers since they ask about gender-neutral bathrooms, in this time they should ask about some covid-19 signage, moderate covid-19 percussions, and the most precautions that you could think of at...
Read moreVery disappointed. Pre covid I came in on a regular basis. Was always very much satisfied. Today we came in and sat at the bar. I work in a restaurant and we would never dream of rushing a customer. I go out to relax as do most people. We barely glanced at the menu and the bartender wanted to take our order. I told her we were in no hurry. I ordered us drinks and WATER. She brought the drinks but no water and was again pressing us for dinner order. I told her we were in NO hurry and I wanted water and needed more time. My friend's appetizer came out and a few minutes later she brought out a box for the leftovers. I repeated. NOT in a hurry. She said they would get busy and I said we didn't care. Again Not in a hurry. I told her that at least 5 times.y dinner companion has mild dementia and if you rush her she will just order anything, not necessarily what she wants. My stomach was off so I barely ate. She never asked if anything was wrong. For the most part the food was good except for the gravy on the dressing. It was pure salt. Then she said she knew they were going to be busy and again I stated NO HURRY. Finally told her I didn't like being rushed! My guest was having a good time chatting with some people she knew. I clearly needed more than one box as I only ate a few bites just and it took her a while to realize that but hey. We were not in a hurry. We were there less than an hour. I cashed out and for the first time in my memory I left less than 20 pct. I usuallly leave 25. I didn't tell her about the salt gravy cuz I doubt she...
Read moreAgain, one of the better meals we have had dining out! And one of the more affordable too!
Our waitress Kimberly was attentive, kind, friendly and prompt! There was also a great display of teamwork between the staff. The staff overall seemed in good demeanor. Happy, one even singing along and whistling while he did his job and helped out the team.
Sadly, our waitress informed us that they were out of corn bread due to a corn meal shortage. That was pretty sad considering we don't eat here often and were totally looking forward to their corn bread, maybe next time! For now we had their delicious rolls, wheat? Idk, I just eat food, guys. They aren't white rolls. Anyway, served with butter and black eyed peas honey.
We shared the Chicken Fried Chicken Plate with the gravy on the side, with loaded mashed potatoes, and red beans and rice as our 2 sides.
The Chicken Fried Chicken is the best! It's moist, tender, crispy, seasoned perfectly, and a great portion if you're super hungry, sharing, or to take half home for leftovers. Their white gravy is a delicious compliment to the chicken fried chicken . Black Eyed Peas is a must if you want a delicious chicken fried chicken!
The loaded mashed potatoes had a great amount of all the yummy toppings, truly loaded. They were very good.
The red beans and rice had a bit of a kick to it, they were tasty!
No dessert. Only water for my mom and I. And our total was $21.09. Can't beat that price! Especially when compared to the quality of food. And especially when it's your turn (it was...
