One Love Island Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Colorado Springs

Don't even READ my review! Just love yourself enough to eat this food!!! You work hard. You deserve it! I had four meals from here this week alone. I buy two meals at a time - the second meal tastes even better the next day, believe it or not. I most enjoy & repeat buy: the oxtail meal with plantains & steamed veggies annnd the jerk chicken with steamed veggies and the rice & peas. Tonight I also had rice & beans and some amazing watermelon juice. The oxtail is tender and flavorful (& I chuck the bones in my freezer to make bone broth later). The seasoning is subtle and mouthwatering delicious. Those steamed veggies get me EVERY time! Steamed to a perfect texture that I just cannot replicate on my own. Subtle flavor that will make you second guess if you are truly full and have had enough.. or if you just need a breather before you dive in for more.. When I take my leftover steamed veggies to work, I have to beat off my coworkers! They annoy me with their, ''Oh my God! WHAT are you eating?! It smells AMAZING!!'' (Go away. It's mine. Get your own! LOL). The plantains are slightly saucy (not dripping, not dry - just right!!). They melt in your mouth with another texture you'll be missing fondly when you realize you ate them all. These I will snack on, cold, the next day. It's a guilty, guilty pleasure. My other favorite entree is the jerk chicken. I imagine I have a secret soulmate that cooks this chicken just to show me some Jamaican island love.. The flavor explodes in a sea of exquisite spices that literally make your tastebuds beg for more. Moist chicken... Mmmm.. The rice is yet another wonder. Not the slightest bit mushy or sticky. A firm enough texture to let your mouth know you mean some serious dining business!! I cannot, cannot express how exquisite the food is. I have been getting it delivered for a few years.. and today I happened to realize the brick & mortar restaurant was only 3min from my job!! I swung by to grab my favorite meat/sides.. sipping my watermelon juice.. waiting for these lovely folks to hand over my next two meals!! Just go. ASAP. You can...

I made a mistake and was trying to call HighGrade for food and called One Love instead. I looked up Jamaican food near me and HighGrade came up and One Love was underneath it so I made a mistake and called this place. I’ve never tried this place before but after I ordered over the phone, I noticed it was a different spot but still decided to go because I kind-of wanted to try something different so I was glad I made the mistake. The gentleman was very nice and my order was ready when I arrived. I was charged $39 and some change for Oxtails, Mac and cheese and cabbage and when I got in the car, I was like this is not right. I received my receipt via text and noticed I was charged for 5 sides and and extra $1 fee on top of the oxtails which was $18. I went inside and he was so nice and I said instead of a refund, can I get a shrimp plate too. I had to pay $1.46 difference (I honestly thought this could’ve been on the house because of being over charged but I did pay it with no problem.) As you see in the picture, the shrimp is very very skimp. It did say 6 shrimp on the menu board but I thought it would be those jumbo size shrimp and this plate is for my husband. A grown big man lol. My oxtails were good, Mac and cheese was decent and cabbage was delicious. I gave them a 3 star because the gentleman was very nice but I have had better Jamaican food in other states however I don’t mind giving them...

We like the jerk chicken and johnny cakes and have used a 3rd party delivery service a couple of times. Tonight (Monday) about 5:30pm I sent an order through for delivery at 8:30pm; it looked like it was received and processed. At almost exactly 8:00pm, I got a call from the 3rd party delivery service that they were canceling my order as Island Grill was closed for the night. I asked when they close and was told 8:00pm, however their hours are shown as 11am to 9:00pm, and I was able to schedule a 8:30pm delivery.

I told the service, I wished they would have called me before Island Grill closed, as they could have delivered earlier, I was home. I was told that the real problem was that the restaurant had never acknowledged the order, so the 3rd party service didn't know there wouldn't be a delivery until the restaurant was closed. I don't know which is party is responsible for the mix up but I was really disappointed that I had to tell someone he wasn't going to be able to have jerked chicken when he got off a hard day of work, and had been looking forward to it. The service refunded the charge and gave me a $5 coupon; however I will be very hesitant to order from Island Grill in the future, since there's a chance I may never get it; if they decide to...
