Pick a different place, I can't recommend it. There are at least 5 other Korean places here in Colorado Springs that do way better, and 2 that are cheaper even.
Pork bulgoki was not great quality meat, too fatty, not spicy (or even flavorful), the portion size was almost half of what you get elsewhere, less actually since it also had onions and cabbage and fluff. Other Korean bbq places give you a plate of just the entree, so all bulgoki, the veggies are what the banchan (the little side dishes) are for! As an entrée for 20 bucks, this was disappointing.
Speaking of banchan, only 5 presented, and one was a salad! I am not kidding, a straight-up little dish of shredded lettuce (like tacobell shredded lettuce) with thousand island sauce on it... yes, when you think of Korean food, I'm sure you think of thousand-island salad dressing!
Kimchi was soft, old, and not spicy.
Bowl of rice that came out not even full (and they charge 2 bucks for more rice here).
The server seemed confused... we asked for water, she forgot and we had to ask again. There were no utensils to start, and we asked for them prior - didn't get them. The food came, still no utensils, and had to ask again and wait for her to get them.
Also: This was at 1 pm - during lunch on a Saturday. Evidently, their "lunch" is not available at actual lunch time on the weekends (only Monday through Friday), so we had to order "dinner" - and thus: dinner prices. However, I've been to dozens of Korean places in Colorado - the only time I see portions that small and only a few banchan (side dishes) is precisely because it's a light lunch faire. We were charged dinner prices, but in no way given dinner portions. Maybe the cook assumed (and rightfully so) that since it was lunch-time, he was prepping lunch orders.
I'd be tempted to go back just to see what a dinner portion would be, but since the meal was fairly bland for what korean BBQ should be - and service lackluster, there's no way.
TL;DR: I wouldn't go back here if they paid for the food. Put any Korean BBQ place in Colorado Springs (I've now been to them all) in a hat and just pick one, it will be...
Read moreListen, if you really like authentic Korean food that is off the chart every single time, then get over yourself and your desire to be somewhere fancier than the strip mall next to the massage parlor where this place is located . In fact, you may be so happy afterwards you'll dip in for a nice massage!
But I digress... The only thing my wife and I ever have here is the bibimbab and that's because it's so awesome there's no need to eat anything else! They Bring the Noise with large portions tons of typical Korean sides to accompany the dish, and, of course, the heated Stone bowls that are the Cornerstone of this awesome dish. I've had bibimbab all over the country and this places smashed anything I ever had before.
From the lime green formica booths, to the large flat screens constantly playing Korean Star Search, there will be absolutely no question that you are in a place that is about the food rather than the decor. If you get the older Korean waitress who's a little nutty you'll be in for in a special surprise because she's every bit as weird as she is courteous and obliging.
If I had to summarize this place I would say it's a cross between a scene in a David Lynch movie and an Iron Chef episode. Let's face it, Colorado Springs is boring and no matter how interesting the Hipster idiots who moved here to smoke weed think they are, they're not. Han Korean restaurant on the other hand is both weird and very very very good eats!
There's an old mamasan behind-the-scenes who cooks every single dish who doesn't speak a lick of English... she's a larger girl with a grumpy face and a serious manner... She also Cooks the best Korean food you're ever going to taste. If you can get her to smile dessert is on the house. Seriously, if you don't try this place at least once you'll be missing a real treat....
Read moreTERRRRRIBLEEEE SERVICE. My mom went here for the first time and had asked if they had any vegan options. The lady showed her the few options they had and my mom ended up going with a vegan plate with dumplings. She had specified MULTIPLE TIMES that it needs to be vegan 100% for health AND religious reasons. When she got home she ate her food... she notice it had smelled a little weird... keep in mind it was in a vegan potato plater... we called and turn put they had put fish cakes in it... after we had ask SPECIALLY for it to be vegan.. and all they did was oh sorry my bad.
