I decided to try a local Colorado Springs favorite. Everyone loves this place and it really shows with the consistent reviews and amazing photos. So why not? Well, it was not the experience we wanted and it was most likely due to their food only being take out due to the current Colorado state mandate for restaurants. The nachos were soggy chips under all of the generous toppings. Sadly there was not enough chips to hold up to the generous toppings. Plus they use nacho cheese instead of shredded cheese. I’m not a fan of nacho cheese. My fajitas ended up being corn tortillas instead of flour. I should have clarified but that one is on me. There was no cheese separate from the ones that melted in the beans. Otherwise the portion was great for the price. The torta was quality and my wife really enjoyed it. Overall, I might try them again when the mandate is over as I feel taking it home made an impact on the taste aspect.

Quesabirria tacos and consume were delicious. I'll definitely be back. Their red and green sauces had amazing flavor. Red is spicier than green but doesn't dampen the flavor of the sauce or meal. Counter service and self clean up but 1,000% worth every bite. They actually add onion and cilantro to the birria tacos which elevates them from tacos el amigo. Their consume has more depth to the flavor as well. Horchata was delicious but a little bit too sweet. Birria tacos can be ordered individually, so start with one or two. They are super filling. 11/10 would recommend The meal is a bit heavy though so don't expect to be able to hike... or want to do much of anything other than relax afterward. Still, you have to try it. Drove past this place for years. Can't believe I've never been in before !!!

We arrived in Colorado Springs after a long plane ride, and we're tired and hungry. We had about 4 hours to check in, and my kid searched for a place to eat. This place came up so we thought we would try it. Being from a different state, we just searched Google, and we were not disappointed. First the smells upon entering made my stomach growl from hunger, that it was unreal. Great customer service, the lady at the counter took her time explaining the different options to my son, the freshest tastes that we still are talking about and the burrito my son got was as big as his hand!! He got the deep fried ice cream and took a picture to send to his friend, and they were so amazed. We do not have anything like this back home in Washington State. Thank you for the best experience!!

How does a five star review go to a 1 star, read on if you are curious. My daughter and I came in the restraunt and she ordered a chicken burrito. I wanted to order a vegetarian burrito because I wanted something easy on my stomach due to health reasons. I ordered what I thought would be an easy order which was a vegetarian burrito. I just said could you please just throw in some veggie sides like tomato, cheese, onion, lettuce etc. and just charge me for whatever. The register girl was confused so she spoke to another girl who said no you can choose a fajita veggie if you want veggie. I told her she could charge me more but I didn't want anything spiced or cooked. Her reply "I said no, cant you hear me, so order the fajita burrito or something else on the menu." At this point I am thinking wow she is rude and angry but I said that we would just be ordering my daughters burrito. One of the cooks came up and said in spanish basically I can easily make him a veggie burrito and her resonse back in spanish was not for him. Why??? I was polite, i was spending money, the order was easy. Why be so hateful to someone who has been respectful? I just shook it off and tried to pay by credit card but their machine would not take my payment. The good news to this somewhat long story is that we drove over to Monicas and bought nachos with guacomole, a chicken burrito for my daughter and they very nicely made me a delicious vegetarian burrito. The credit card machine worked like a charm there. I have eaten at Tlaqupaque several times with my family and friends in the past but after this I wont be recommending them again. For the girl that was so mean, I really hope you find peace with your anger because that will just eat you up about as quick as I ate my vegetarian burrito...

We vacationed in Colorado Springs and kept seeing good reviews for Tlaquepaque so we went. We were hoping for a nice sit down restaurant and were suprised to find it is primarily a drive through with fast food seating inside. While we were in Colorado we found that Covid has apparently devastated the restaurant business because many of the restaurants we went to were closed permanently when we got to them. For this reason we decided to eat there anyway.

We were very happy that we stayed. The food was off the chain good! I had the Carne Asada tacos and my wife & granddaughter had crispy chicken tacos with chicken enchiladas, all served with rice & beans. The girls both loved their choices. My carne asada tacos were delicious. They were served with guacamole, cilantro and lime in corn tortillas like street tacos. My carne asada tacos were as good as any I've ever had.

The whole time we were at Tlaquepaque, there was a constant line of cars driving through for pick up as well as a couple of very large orders which must have been called in. We obviously weren't the only ones who love their food!

Don't expect great restaurant service. You place your order at the counter and pick it up when your number is called. You will be eating out of styrofoam go boxes. But don't let that stop you from trying this great food. I typically compare all Mexican food to the Tex Mex food I eat at home in Texas. Tlaquepaque was as good as any I've eaten in Texas or Mexico. Utterly delicious and more than we could eat. I would give the food 5 stars and the atmosphere 3 stars, but I would bet you go back for more later on. If I lived in Colorado Springs, I would eat there at least...
