My husband and I visited this weekend, hoping to add another good local brewery to my list as a weekend beer spot. I liked the atmosphere of the space with all of the old skis. The bartenders were all very responsive and friendly, answered our questions about beers and offered several tasters of beers. Unfortunately each beer I tried was just a little off. Initially they all tasted good but with each following sip, the beers seemed to taste almost gritty, like the tap system wasn't working properly. While sitting at the bar I was watching each beer that was poured I noticed most beers would come out 75% foam and the bartenders would have to wait 5 minutes before they could finish pouring to let the foam settle. All lighter beers came out cloudy and flat rather than clear and carbonated. Another sign that maybe the tap system wasn't working right? I tried a red ale, which was strangely dark brown in color, had no hop or floral characteristics for a red, and tasted sweet, more like a brown. I also tried the brown ale, which was very dark and creamy, more like a stout or porter. Lastly, I sampled the black ale, which was almost sour, like the batch was off, and the juniper ale, which was decent for a pale ale but was cloudy and still had that gritty mouth-feel that lingered long after my beer was done and we had left. We did not order the food this time but had a nice customer next to us at the bar that said they had the best burger in town. This review is not meant to bash or criticize harshly, or scare people away. I would love to see Whistle Pig take some of the similar reviews to heart and re-evaluate their beer quality and equipment so they can be a strong competitor with the local brewery market here and survive against the more established...

Read moreI picked up a woman who had a Groupon for this micro brewery. The service was decent and the beer was good until the end. Our bill wasn't high, something like 20 dollars and the Groupon made it like a dollar and six cents. I gave him 2 dollars having only 2 singles, plus the change and she gave him a dollar. I used the bathroom and thought I would provide an additional tip because I didn't have to spend much. This is the cause for my 2 star rating and the reason I would never revisit this establishment. I came out of the bathroom and asked if he could give me change for a 20. Initially he told me no. So I asked if he had 15 he could give me because I wanted to leave him another 5 for his service. He pulled a small wad of small bills and gave me 20$ change for the 20. Then I gave him a 5. What bothered me was he had the change and initially didn't want to give it to me. It bothered after I thought about it, and later I thought about it again and was offended enough to rate this micro brewery and write...
