I've genuinely tried to like this place. It was once pretty good. I even picked this place for one of my birthday parties a while back. It was nothing extravagant or worth fawning over, but reliable food and service. Sadly, it's gotten worse and worse lately. This review is based on three different visits, I've kept wanting to enjoy my time here, but it's just not worth it to me anymore.
I came in once with a large party. My family owned restaurants when I was growing up. I have a lot of compassion and patience for those in the industry. The place wasn't very full but since we were a big party I expected some wait for our food. Two and a half hours, though, is far too long. When I did finally get my food, it was cold and not very good at all. Service was also lacking that evening. It was a very sad experience overall.
Another time, I visited with a friend. We went for lunch, so we practically had the place to ourselves. I was looking forward to a yummy meal after a nice long trail run. Unfortunately my food arrived after a long wait missing something I had ordered. I mentioned this to the waitress. She was kind about the request and went to fix it with the kitchen. Unfortunately, it was another long wait. By the time I received the rest of my order, my other food was cold. The chicken I got was dry and over seasoned. It made me so sad because it was once so yummy.
Finally I went with my husband on another occasion. I wanted to give this place one more honest try. There are only so many places to eat in the area, I truly wanted this to be an option again. We had another very long wait. The food was below average but okay enough. Then I bit into something that tasted absolutely terrible. One of my fries was horrificly awful, like I had to spit it out in a napkin and chug my drink, awful. It had definitely gone bad. The others were okay, so I'm guessing this was a product issue and not a restaurant issue. I was told that the fries are cooked from frozen. The waitress was so kind about it once I said something, and they did somewhat make it right on our bill. Still, I had lost my appetite. This felt like the last chance I could give. Food quality matters, nothing on my plate we palatable, and that fry just completely ended it for me.
I don't believe the big issues are the front-of-house, I think it's kitchen management and the food itself. Sadly, that really can make or break a place, especially in a small town. I don't know if I'll be open to going again anytime soon. I might be willing to try if some changes are made. However, in an increasingly expensive world filled with options, there are other nearby places with incredible service and affordable food worth going out of my way for. I think my dollar is better spent...

Read moreThis is the second time I have been here. First ordered a prime rib dip and potato tots (no mashed or baked available as a side) the sandwich was spicy. I do not mind spicy. But this thing had a lot of heat to it. No where on the menu did it state that it was supposed to be spicy. In order to deep fry tater tots the oil has to be hot. And I mean just before it starts to burn. This is the only way you can cook them in oil without getting saturated in oil. Needless to say if I squeezed a tot oil came out. And I am not talking a couple of drips. It was a stream of it.
So I gave them another shot. I order the baked Mac and cheese. With chicken and bacon. Almost 13 dollars for the Mac and cheese 5 dollars for the chicken and 2 dollars for the bacon. 20 dollars in total. There was maybe 1/2 of one breast of chicken and there was at most a single strip of bacon. There is also broccoli included in the dish. If you want to even call it that. 2 flowerets each smaller then a teaspoon.
The portion size gotten for the 20 dollars was incredibly small. Nothing to even take home. Leaving still hungry. It came in a small baking dish the size that is used to cook shrimp scampi. And the side was a fruit bowl that had 3 to 4 pieces of cantelope and the same for melon both cut into 1/2 inch cubes both were hard and not ripe And 4 to 5 small grapes. And one really sad piece of mandrin.
I came during the lunch hour during the week last time. So this time I went at 3 on a Sunday not very busy at this hour. Still a letdown.
End result is poor quality on the ingredients. Really poor on the...
