This place doesn't even deserve one star!!! I recently stopped in for lunch here at 2:00 PM on a Monday afternoon. Their main dining room is large and is filled with a lot of (square) tables and on that particular day there were only two tables that were filled with late lunch diners. Besides being a disabled senior citizen, I was currently recovering from spine surgery and immediately noticed that the main dining room did not have any chairs with padded backs (only with padded seats)! We were directed (by the owner) to find a place to sit in this larger room. But near the front door in the cash register area there was a rectangular table with a cushioned bench along the side wall that had padding on both the back and seat! That would be perfect! With 60 staples recently removed from my back, leaning against a hard wooden surface was still excruciatingly painful! I was not getting around that well yet, walking with quite a bit of difficulty and having to use a cane, and so I asked if it was possible that instead we could be seated at this (more comfortable) table. Get this...the owner responded that he needed to have that particular table available "in case a large group came in"! What?! You have got to be kidding me!!! If that was the case, doubtful for mid-day dining on a Monday, why couldn't a couple of their square tables simply be pushed together in the other room which would provide seating for a larger group! Since it had been difficult just getting out of a car and into their door, we did end up staying to eat and only a couple of other people showed up for lunch...certainly not that "large group" that he was so sure was going to come in! Food was okay, egg rolls sucked! I recall how I practically pleaded with him to let me sit at this much more comfortable table and he adamantly continued to refuse to accommodate me! Such a really easy request one would think! I still cannot believe the way I was treated that day. He was absolutely one of the rudest people that I have ever met up here in our wonderful mountain community! I might be able to possibly understand this horrible attitude coming from an overworked employee, but this was the owner! I just read other reviews and have learned that this moron has been a horrible excuse for a person for a very long time! I don't know where he came from but I would like to see him return to that rock he climbed out from under.....we don't need a business owner like...
Read moreO.M.G!!!!! What a difference now Ownership/Management makes!!!!! We had heard that there were new people in charge at Golden Stix, so we decided to check it out. We were blown away. First, the food is bette than before, pricing is still very reasonable. But the attitude and guests service has done a complete 180 change. Friendly greetings when you walk in, attentive and professional service for your meal. They were willing to customize the dishes to meet just about any dietary guidelines, vegetarian, vegan, gluten free etc. We will be enjoying the food and service many times in the future. This review is from a couple of years ago!!! Let's set this up. It's a Thursday at 5PM, the place is EMPTY. We come in as a party of 5 adults, including 2 octogenarian members who use a walker. They take us into the dining room and try to seat us at a table that is barely adequate for 4 guests, too small for our party of 5. I ask to get two tables joined for our group but was rebuffed, saying it is house policy NOT to pull tables together. No exceptions, no accommodations no nothing except their house rule. We asked to talk to a manager, and he again insisted that we could not have a table that would be big enough for our party. Their inflexible and anti-guest attitude was too much, so............ We left and went down the block to a great Mexican restaurant were we were greeted warmly and made sure our party was taken care of. Every business has to have rules, I get that! But the inflexible, dogmatic application of these "house rules" is a sure thing to tick your customers off. The "hospitality" in a Hospitality Business is going to most any length to make sure your guests feel welcome and wanted in your business. Hospitality at the Golden Stix is a feature...
Read moreI'll start by saying the Thai Tea was really good. It was too sweet but overall it was good 👍
The rest of the food was awful and some of the worst items I've ever forced myself to eat. Food is supposed to be an aphrodisiac. While eating here I couldn't have a blissful thought. Rather, as I ate the food I could only have memoriea of the times I was homeless and eating to stay alive. The food here tastes as if it were bought from dollar tree freezers and microwaved, or as if it were half-cooked 8 hours ago and dropped in warm water. The sauce was the right flavor, but the food was cooked and stored horribly. The inside looks good but the food is so horrible I don't think anyone can genuinely walk out of those doors with a smile on their face.
I'm actually writing this review as I'm fighting through this dish, so to have a very honest review of how I feel in the moment. I did order the Combination Broccoli and a Thai Tea, but this dish is so awful I can't imagine anything else from here would be any different. It's the lack of care or passion in the culinary arts that has earned this restaurant a one-star review for my first time visiting.
Spare yourself the disappointment and pay a random 8yo to cook your food and you might be more satisfied...
