Disappointing.... I took my family for a birthday celebration. Our server was nice but painfully new. She didn't know the menu, she didn't know the sides, she didn't know stuff for kids, and she kept forgetting things we asked her for. She would say she eas going to go get something and then disappear for a LONG time she'd when she returned, she hadn't remembered to get what we asked for. The food wasn't all that great either. The kids meals were expensive and disappointing, none of my kids would touch anything other than the fries (and my kids usually eat really well). They said it was too spicy (super heavy on the garlic). The buffet they offered was ok, but not great. Only a few items, which I'd fine, but they were.....meh...... Then when it came time for the check, it took FOREVER to get our bill and then our server disappeared again when we just wanted to pay. My kids were getting antsy and we wanted to leave so I went to the bar to all if we could pay up there. The bartender was nice and asked another older waitress if she could help me.... Which apparently was WAY TOO MUCH to ask her. She was rude and nasty and all I wanted to do was pay to get out of there. She even had some rude remark that she shot at me about our server being the one who should be running our card when she gave me the slip to sign. I was shocked and offended so i snapped back that if we could find our server I would have asked her to do it. We jad waited for oyr server top come back for our money for over 15 minutes! My kid had fallen and busted open his lip and was bleeding everywhere (not the restaurant's fault at all) but we needed to go... and the older waitress made it feel like it wad my fault that our server kept disappearing! I will never be taking my family there again. So sad! I've been to the Do Drop In in Pueblo Proper and never had troubles.... expensive and disappointing were the words...
Read moreCame here at the recommendation of a friend. Loved the decor. It's like an Italian outdoor restaurant built in the indoors. Hardly crowded. Walls decorated with hollywood nods to the Italian atmosphere.
We ordered the bruschetta for an appetizer, the avondale pizza and fried pasta. Pizza is only available medium and above, so either get it to share or to take home for a future meal. Portions are very generous.
The bruschetta was not what we expected. The toppings came separate from the bread. But very tasty! And I guess this way is better because you decide how much to put on your bread :) bread itself was tasty in itself with decent crunch.
The pizza was very interesting. The toppings include fire roasted chile and strips of steak with pico de gallo in alfredo sauce. Outside of the chile, it was on the sweetish side, which was surprising. We liked it all the same. While this is great, I look forward to trying the other options hoping they will be spicier.
The fried pasta really tasted like hakka noodles with veggies and chicken. Everything has a smoked/roasted feel to it. It was bland for my taste. I asked for chili flakes and pepper, which made it slightly better. However the more you eat it, the more you like the blandness!
I got a hot chocolate because I wanted something warm and it was like any other hot chocolate.
One suggestion - would really like fresh ground pepper rather than packaged pepper satchets.
Overall, good experience....
Read moreWe went on a Sunday night, not knowing the pizza buffet was the special that night--pizza, pasta, meatballs, salad and bread for $9.99. When we went to get our food, there was no pizza, the salad was low, and I snagged the last piece of crusty Italian bread to go with the pasta and meatballs that was in plentiful supply. Those were very tasty. There were six of us however, and though the wait staff kept telling up there was more pizza coming out soon, we waited and waited and waited--no pizza. When I went back to the buffet area to check on pizza, the bread was still empty, so I caught a waitress and asked, and she did go back to the kitchen and come back with a full server-box of fresh bread. No tongs with which to grab it, however, so I took the first piece I could reach with my hands. Some pizza did finally get put out, and it was good. It just seemed like they didn't think many people would be ordering the buffet, and they didn't keep it very well stocked. The food, generally, was very good, and there was plenty of pasta and sauce and meatballs all the time. Do Drop is famous for its pizza, and when you order it off the menu, it takes about 45 minutes for them to make it and get it to the table, so maybe that was why it was so hard for them to keep it stocked on the buffet. Fortunately, that night we went, we weren't in a big hurry, so we just sat and enjoyed our visit with family, and when we got food, it...
