Harwigs — Restaurant in Colorado

We booked our small wedding reception in the wine cellar in August for a December wedding. It took calling twice and emailing the email on their website(which doesn't actually work) to receive any call or email back. I was then emailed to confirm a 90 person reservation, when we reserved a table for 10 in the wine cellar. I was then told that they over booked the wine cellar and that we couldn't use it. When I then called to speak to the booking person they had the reservation but hadn't communicated to JJ the chef. The chef then made me clarify this instead of them very easily doing it in house. Yesterday I emailed to discuss the menu, and got an email back in a half an hour. I clarified that we wanted a menu made for us, that's what you get when you book the wine cellar. JJ Jenny, the chef told me to give any and all feedback which I did. I was also told at that point that we could not have a cake from a bakery in town brought into Harwigs because it is a liability. I was very disappointed and told the chef I that we'd like a similar cake to the one we already ordered, cayenne and chocolate. And that we'd like to taste a sample before hand and would like to see an example of his cake decorating. The cake we have already ordered was supposed to have mountains and snow on it and we were hoping for the same idea. I also asked if we could bring in our own flowers or if that's an issue as well. I just received this email in response:

Good morning Emily,

I am sorry, but we are going to respectfully decline this reservation. I think you will be happier at another restaurant. I wish you a happy wedding and holiday season. Thank you for your consideration.

The plating of the dishes was stunning...elevated, elegant, and absolutely delicious. Our guests are still raving about the passed appetizers, saying they were some of the best bites they’ve ever had at a wedding. JJ also helped bring our food and drink vision to life in ways we never could have imagined. Throughout planning, he suggested creative touches like espresso martini shots and changing up the potato to something people have been loving at other events. Harwigs staff not only executed flawlessly but also brought incredible energy to the night, creating such a fun and welcoming atmosphere.

One of the absolute highlights of our entire wedding planning journey was the tasting we did at Harwigs with Chris and JJ. They hosted us in the wine cellar, and it was one of the most special experiences of our lives. It felt like a celebration in itself and we left so full of amazing food and wine. That memory will forever stand out as one of the best parts of planning our wedding.

Working with JJ was a dream. He listened to what we wanted, elevated our ideas with his expertise, and made the entire process seamless and enjoyable. We are endlessly grateful for his partnership and cannot imagine our wedding without Harwigs. They truly made our day exceptional.

The food and the service were outstanding. We hired Harwigs (JJ) to cater our daughter’s wedding. We have hosted 2 other weddings so we are very familiar with dealing with vendors. We can say that JJ was the easiest and most fun vendor we ever dealt with. He explained everything and delivered a fantastic presentation. From appetizers the meal and cocktails everything went smoothly without a problem. the food was sensational. We had 158 adults and the food was restaurant quality when served. His staff is professional fun and easy to work with. I would give JJ 10 stars. Hire him for your event. You will not be disappointed. PS.
