Discourteous staff. There are signs everywhere saying to look but not touch and after spending several minutes doing just that and dutifully keeping my hands to my stomach when leaning in for a closer look, the employee decided to tell me not to touch anything. A woman came in, asked how much something was, and noted that she probably couldn't afford it. The employee said "yes, it's probably too much" and waited a beat before actually answering the woman's question, and offering that it was $85,000. After telling the employee that I was on a 2 month trip and looking to acquire things for a new condo, she followed up with... Absolutely nothing. Not even a "let me know if you'd like to know more about something", much less any curiosity in what size of piece I might be interested in. Or my trip. Or anything to do with me, really. This place feels like they sell a couple pieces a year to interior designers sourcing for high net worth clients that neither know nor care about the art in their homes and spends the rest of the time feeling special because they sell one or two pieces a year to interior designers sourcing for high net worth clients that neither know nor care about the art in their homes. Had they been at all interested in helping me, I would have flown in my friend from HS, who is now a professor of paleontology and spent some *serious* money. But I do not patronize this kind of establishment Edit: after speaking with my friend who has a PhD in paleontology, she suggests that the Maussaur jaw *may* be misrepresented because while it contains real teeth, they do no appear to be the ones which go with that jaw, and do not appear with the proper spacing, nor do they appear set at the proper depth within the bone matrix

After visiting this store for years and buying less expensive jewelry I finally made a purchase of a $3,000 opal and diamond ring that I had been eyeing for some time. The third time that I wore it my partner informed me, “what’s wrong with your ring?” I looked down and it was cracked and pieces of the opal missing. We don’t live locally, but I went back with the ring to get remedy. First we were met with staff who said that they couldn’t help us because they didn’t “work there” even though they were running the store and the cash register. We persisted, showing up everyday until we finally got the owner, Bashar. He was even less helpful, immediately commenting that we were the cause of the broken jewelry. With patience and insistence we asked for a mutually agreeable remedy, as this was an expensive piece of jewelry. We were continually ghosted when we asked for updates. We finally demanded that the damaged ring be returned to us. At one point, before it was returned, Bashar said that the ring was essentially worthless and unfixable, but if we gave him an extra $1,000 he could send a new one. I’ve got the emails and texts to back these accusations up. Go to this store if you want to pay $10 for a clump of fools gold for your kid as a souvenir; don’t waste your money on their “fine jewelry.” That place is a sham. They prey on tourists that they assume will never return. There are plenty of other places in Steamboat that are reputable and where you can find quality goods. This place is not one of them.

I have never been so humiliated, taken advantage of, and treated so disrespectfully ever in my life. Older sales women blatantly lied to my face about the price of a crystal. She gave us a quote of 750. But proceeded to tell us since it was 50% it would be around 375. However, when my husband turned the crystal around the price tag was 225. She then would not give us the labeled price and no longer claimed it was on the half off table. She rudely told my mother to be quiet. Just because she was trying to explain that crystal was indeed on the 50% off table. She then proceeded to further argued with us, ignored us, help other customers, made faces to us, and degraded me and my whole family. This crystal buying was supposed to be something very special for my birthday as we came prepared to get a crystal for our new home all the way from Denver. What was supposed to be a beautiful experience getting our first crystal turned into such a nightmare all because of this sales lady. I’m hurt, disappointed, and most of all in shock that this condescending behavior is allowed to take place. I...
