Dairy Queen — Restaurant in Columbia

5/22/22 - 4:15 pm. I'm giving it 4 stars because I like the ice cream and the young man waiting on us was very friendly. I am leaving off the one star because I should not have had to say "excuse me", to the young man, when he had his back turned and was doing nothing, I am guessing listening to his music from his ear piece. He turned and put his drink on the counter in front of us and left it there. I noticed banana peals on the work area and no one was bothering to pick them up, as the other people were having their drinks and chit chatting, Did I miss a free cone day, as the other week my friends were happy they received their ice cream free from their neighbor who works there. To bad the young people do not take a little pride in their job and clean up. It was not busy, at all, at the time...

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Half of our order was made wrong. When I said something to the kid who took our order, he acted like he didn’t care or didn’t want to listen and he walked away. So when I told him I wanted new ones, he got his manager. The manager was nice and redid everything how it should have been. When I thanked him for his help and for being kind because the other one wasn’t as kind, the manager replied “that’s just how he is.” I was thrown back by this. Instead, the reply should have been “I’m so very sorry for your experience.” Or something of the sort. I don’t care if that’s how he is or if that’s his personality, you must be respectful to clients, personable, and caring. And he was none of the above. “That’s just how he is” is...

This Dairy Queen location is the closest to my home, but is the one I visit least often. It is clean and has ample seating, but seems to have problems getting good help. We always go together as a family, and our order has always been incorrect in some way. I've gotten the wrong change, the wrong number of items, and the wrong order there. Today's visit was no different. Even after alerting the cashier to today's problem (a Misty Freeze was ordered but a regular Misty Slush was received), it still took getting the attention of another staff member to get the right order. Since they did not give me a receipt, I had no proof I paid for the item I ordered, so they wanted to charge me the difference! I have decided that I will not return to this...
