Magnolia Grille — Restaurant in Columbia

Stopped by Magnolia Grille for the 1st time around 4 pm. VERY few patrons in restaurant at this time. NICE salad bar. I ordered the chicken carbonara and my husband ordered the shrimp and grits. Upon receiving our dinners... my Chicken Carbonara had no flavor at all. Tasted like buttered spaghetti. The chicken was so dry ... hard to chew it up. My husband's shrimp and grits were good. I took a bite of them ..they were ok. When our server Brittany asked about our meals... I told her of my tasteless spaghetti and dry chicken. She asked if I wanted them to remake it?? No!! I told her I'd take the shrimp and grits. In about 10 minutes the shrimp and grits were brought out. After a couple bites my mouth was on fire 🔥! Not just a little spicy... but SPICY HOT!! I couldn't eat it!! My husband enjoys really spicy food...I had him taste it. He said it was HOTTER than his was. I asked for a box to take it home. Maybe my husband can eat it later. NOT FOR ME!! Such a disappointing meal after 2 attempts at entrees! The cost of the dinners were comparable to other restaurants. Update: my husband did eat the shrimp and grits at home. He said there was no consistency in the 2 dishes. His was good at the restaurant. My take home dish was EXTREMELY HOT!!! Would I ever order...

My husband and I decided to give this place another try last night (Lived here 7 years and never enjoyed the food here) since there are not many steak houses in Columbia. We were hoping things had gotten better but the NOLA shrimp was so salty AGAIN that we only ate one shrimp! It was so salty it was not edible! The steaks were actually cooked right this time but also very salty. I took a napkin and wiped mine so that I was able to eat half of it. The potato was at least edible thankfully! We tried eating here about a month ago and same appetizer too salty and my steak too rare and I had them cook a bit longer and it came back way overdone and not edible! If I didn’t know better I’d say it was put in the microwave! Oh and the sunflower seeds I put on my salad were rancid! $100 down the drain!! When we ever express what we feel was not good,nicely, the wait staff never seems to care! Almost like they’re used to it. I’m from a family of restaurant managers and the customers satisfaction is number one! If there were a complaint of any kind a manager would make a table visit and try to make it right or offer some sort of compensation . We never expect a free meal but some kind of effort to see that the customer wants to return would be nice. Nowadays that seems...

I hope we got it right she was our waitress today we were over there oh gosh a little around 1:15 1:20 we got there stay there till little after 3:00 poor girl was ran to death by us. Excellent service very knowledgeable of the menu. Answered all our questions with professionalism. I managed a restaurant for 18 years I would have snatched her up in a heartbeat and paid her whatever she wanted LOL. That girl is awesome. The last time we were there we had a waitress it was nonchalant really didn't check on us ask questions acted like she didn't want to answer us. We will definitely be back on the weekend whenever darnella is there gosh I should have got her name how she spelled it anyways she was wonderful. Hats off to whoever hired that Jewel. Yes we tipped her very very well she deserved every dime. Thank you for wonderful food a wonderful experience in a wonderful waitress. God...
