I came with here with my Grandfather for him to get a meal after his eye appointment. He had a note from his Dr with a free meal written on the back and their information on the front. For starters my Grandfather is the sweetest and very polite. When the employee put in his order she came back with a total, and I showed her the front of the note explaining that we thought his meal was complimentary. It could have been a miscommunication with the Dr, but it was pretty clear to us. Their attitude's and body language they presented was not acceptable. There was a short lady that mocked me when I said "complimentary" with a smart tone and even scrunched up her face. And proceeded to go on about how they don't do complimentary meals, in an aggravated tone. The whole time my Grandfather was okay with actually paying. He had no problem at all, my problem is with the employees. I wish I had gotten the short lady's name. Her energy is disgusting and disturbing. When we were leaving she then tried to tell us to have a good day and rolled her eyes as if I weren't looking directly at her until I actually went out the door. Y'all's establishment need to treat people better and with respect, especially if it's given to you. If that doesn't work for you, the service industry definitely won't. Do better. I'm...
Read moreThe BBQ place I wanted to go to was closed today so I went to Maurice's. I thought it was just ok. The building had a great sense of ambience and the staff was very friendly, but the food was more of the chain store quality as opposed to "real" BBQ. I had the 3 meat platter with brisket, pulled chicken, and pulled pork. The brisket was good, as was the chicken, but the pork was not that great. It was a little dry and had an odd flavor. They served them all with mustard BBQ sauce which surprised me. I would have preferred to add my own sauce.
For the sides I chose mac and cheese as well as potato salad. The noodles in the mac and cheese were soggy and there was very little cheese flavor. The potato salad was dry, but had a good flavor. I had hoped for a more authentic experience and this was not it. The dining areas were clean as were the bathrooms. I probably won't be back.
My rating system consists of a 3-star being exactly what you expected and neither good nor bad. A 4 means something was extra special and a 5 means you were blown away. A 2 star rating was disappointing and a 1-star...
Read moreHorrible, we were in town at the zoo and decided to try this place on the way back. It had decent reviews and the backing of southern living naming it best in sc for 2108. First of all I am not a fan of mustard at all makes me gag , the pork was covered in mustard sauce. Why have 6 different sauces if you're going to serve things in a sauce? My hush puppies were cold, the fried okra was salty almost to a salt lick level. My wifes mac and cheese was mush, the lemonade was not fresh squeezed unless the squeezed the bottle of sugar water. We sat near the window and my daughter dropped her fork on the windowsill and it came up covered in black nastiness. If I wanted my pulled pork to be the way this stuff was I would've stayed home and made it in a crock pot it had no smoke flavor...
