Was in the area for a trip, and needed a good coffee shop before heading to the zoo. A quick Google and Yelp search landed me upon Curiosity, and we were so happy with our find.
The place itself is artsy, unique, and quaint. While we didnāt stay long, we would have loved to sit outside on the covered patio for a bit. In a rainy or hot day, there was ample seating inside and a ton of games to borrow and play.
The menu was impressive and most items were listed as homemade and locally sourced. We ordered a London Fog, Chai Latte, Hot Chocolate, streusel muffin, vegadeiro, and their chicken salad croissant sandwich. When I say that it was the BEST chicken salad sandwich I have had to date, Iām not exaggerating. Both the chicken salad and croissant were homemade and OUT OF THIS WORLD. The flavor was spot on and Iappreciated that it was good quality white meat that was shredded to perfection. I will slap a caution label here and say I feel like people are on two sides of the coin here: you either like your chicken salad with just chicken, or you like it with other things added in (nuts, celery, etc.). This one was sans fillers, but honestly this place does the food so well, I would have gladly eaten it either way. The croissant was soft and flaky and they included a little lettuce and twohuge slices of perfectly ripe heirloom tomatoes. Also, nothing is more annoying than when you order a sandwich and you get a small portion of the main goods and a ton of the toppings, but that is not an issue here. They heaped that salad on and the proportions were spot on.
The drinks were also just as delicious, not too sweet, not overly milky, perfectly temped. The vegadeiro (their take on a brigadeiro) was so chocolatey and smooth, I wish I would have bought more than one. The muffin; my son inhaled half and then inhaled the other half in the car, so safe to say for a picky 2-year old eater, it was delish.
The staff could not have been nicer! You can tell they have their regulars, and thatās always a good sign. Itās one thing to take someoneās order and be polite but itās another thing when they interact with you and your children in a genuine way that makes you want to continue coming again and again.
That may sound like an over-the-top review, but I have a passion for food and good people, and Iām on a mission to find all the cute and delicious coffee shops/cafes I can. I told my husband if we ever moved to Columbia, this would be my go-to spot. A++ all around for this place, and if you ever want to open a location in Buffalo, NY, Iāll be your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRecently made a stop here while recording some footage for my documentary and wanted to shed light on some companies in my beautiful home state of SC. It was a little early in the morning and surprisingly when I went in everyone was in a chipper mood. I loved the fact that there was a rainbow on the door upon entry which let me know that I would feel at home there. That was a great feeling for me and I'm sure for others in my "spectrum". :) They allowed me to film footage and even gave me information about their best seller. I was offered a sample and was so excited to taste it that I forgot it was COFFEE and drunk it so fast that it literally WOKE ME UP! (YIKES!!) I believe the blend that I sampled was their Honduran blend. Hope I spelled that correctly (I did! Spell wouldn't let me be great due to the fact that I didn't capitalize 'Honduran')! It wasn't for me as I am not a coffee kinda guy, and if I do drink it I like it extra SWEET and all that other unhealthy type of stuff- but I do know that there are plenty of coffee lovers worldwide who would love it! A friend of mine told me once that the one thing he loved about me was my curiousity - and guess what?! THAT'S what got me to go inside! Not just my natural curiousity of things - but the name of the business! I tend to follow signs and that was a sign for me to step in and learn more and I was not disappointed! For an extra $3 you can add a CBD shot and I KNOOOOOOOOW that a lot of people will love that! Ha ha ha!! :) And their cups are eco friendly! Greta and a lot of others would LOVE that! So I say if you find yourself in the area give it try! Tell them WayneDaStar sent ya! I'm a good reference! :) Quick Question.... do you guys think I should name my album "Wayne Was X" the X stands for Here. OR, do you think I should name it "From Wayne, With Love"? I'm kinda leaning towards the latter. Or either making that the name for my podcast! :) Spread Love!...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI travel for work and Always try and find good coffee spots to work. Initially this place looked closed from the front. This is Not a Full Blown Coffee Shop. Only 3 tables in the whole place. very Tiny. Its paired with a wine shop.
The table I sat in I ended up having to share with 2 more people which were in no way quiet while talking to each other. But I had no other table to go to.
I ordered a Cafe Mocha which had hardly any Mocha flavor, and a Bagel with Cream Cheese. I got my Bagel with one little slice of cream cheese. Barely Enough to cover half of the bun. I requested 2 more little pieces and the girl told me ok, but I have to charge you for it. Seriously?? You give me a bagel with a tiny cube of cream cheese then want to charge me to cover the other half? It doesn't matter the cost to me, it's the principle. A small Mocha and Bagel was about $10. But I ate half my bagel plain.
After the lady at the counter told me, she had to charge me, and I said really, nevermind. She simply said OK. And didn't even care that I was eating a bagel with no cream cheese as ordered.
Advice to the Owner. When you Nickel and Dime your customers, you lose them.
Whenever I order a bagel ANYWHERE ELSE, I get the Cream Cheese packets that have 3x more cream cheese than you put in your tiny 2-oz black plastic ramekin. And If I EVER request an extra packet, neither starbucks or any other Coffee shop has EVER wanted to charge me EXTRA for a packet of cream cheese.
If anyone is desperate for coffee and just need something to go, I might say get your coffee and go. This isn't the kind of place you want to actually sit for a while. I couldn't take the noise of the people I had to share a table with, so...
