We have indulged in this place multiple times, and I have forgotten to review until today. Our usual is Harumaki(spring rolls) and tofu, mixed veggies (broccoli, onion, carrot, zucchini), and lo mein noodles. We have also enjoyed the teriyaki eggplant and tried different types of their sushi. My only fuss is that sometimes, the sushi ingredients are just slightly less fresh, but not enough for me to say they are "off." It just sometimes tastes as though it wasn't cut up and used in the last twenty-four hours, but that only happened with the omelet and only once. Don't let that stop you, though! There is no guarantee that tomorrow will not be different. Their specialty sushi is also buy one get one free! Today, we had tofu, mixed veggies, and lo mein. Photos can't do this justice! Their food is made with a quality that you really can't find elsewhere for the affordable prices they offer. They give the customer attention on a personal level, too, which means a lot. Their storefront is small and has only two bar stools, making it a stop and go type of location. However, I like that about it. There is no dining room to get dirty or torn up, no crowd of people, no loud room. It is just their kitchen and some standing room. The owners are incredibly nice, too, and the woman has brought our food out to our car more than once. (She tried to bring it during rain, but my fiancé had the umbrella at the door for her, so she didn't have to.)

Dingy little takeout place in a rough spot with difficult access if you are heading West on Elmwood. Quick, nice staff. Flavor of sauce below average for teriyaki, but they pulled off the rare feat of keeping white meat chicken chunks tender and juicy, and the veggies still crunchy. That goes a long way in my book and so I enjoyed it. Price high at $12, but it was a huge portion so I'm satisfied. Yum yum sauce more gingery and sweet than most places heavy mayo one. I liked it, but the size tub was way too small for the amount of food, same with an extra $0.50 eel sauce tub. I'll come back and update w more dishes. Update: I've since had red curry chicken, also very good. However, was disappointed in hibachi steak and shrimp, both overcooked and tough, and the basic hibachi flavor not as good as teriyaki or curry. Gonna stick with chicken from now on. Also, note that online ordering has an extra service charge, so call instead.

First visit... the sushi was a great price and tasted really good. I love crunchy California rolls but the crunchy rolls here have tempura shrimp. It was still good but it was fried hard. I asked if she could put sauce on the California rolls as well and she did. It really enhanced the flavor. My daughter tried the sesame chicken and rice. She said it was good but I noticed there wasn't any sauce on the chicken. We will definitely be back... buy one get one free sushi rolls will allow me to order my favorite while trying something new.

Like another reviewer stated, DO NOT LET THIS LITTLE PLACE FOOL YOU! Every New Years Eve, we get sushi & champagne to usher in the New Year with. It's our tradition and since we are still fairly new to Columbia SC, We had to ask around about where to get the best sushi. Well we only tried one of the two places that came HIGHLY recommended and words can not describe how disappointed we were. They were expensive for NO reason. They were ok, but coming from a state that does sushi really well, we were just not that impressed. This year, we tried this little joint when a friend of ours recommended it, and let me tell you, we are just blown away! So fresh, and so good! I mean melted in my mouth GOOD and it rivals the restaurants back home! Did I mention that they have buy one get one FREE sushi rolls?! You don't even have to get the same roll which gives you a chance to try out different kinds of rolls for SO much less money than the fancier restaurants because their prices are as impressive as their food. Try this little...

The description states, "no frills, counter serv(ice)", which is the truth. The decor could use an update, and the place a little housekeeping, but nothing major. I love sushi, and have been on the hunt since moving here 1.5 years ago. We were satisfied. We ordered the eel, shrimp tempura, California and spicy tuna rolls and ALL were delicious! They do NOT give you the option of putting the spicy mayonnaise on the side, but we prefer it so we didn't mind. There's another place that I'm loathed to recommend because of their filthy restrooms, which is an indication of how mgmt runs the restaurant, and thus, the food; however, the sushi chef is separate and has his own CASH ONLY tip cup @ Jasmine Palace. It was a work of art! Back to Sushi & Hibachi To Go: I appreciated their friendliness, customer service, quality of food and the competitive prices! It's worth the trip in my opinion, for a take-out option. Females: if you're alone, call ahead so your order will be ready upon your arrival....
