OK is being generous with this review. Two of the five of us had been to lunch at the McCutchen House and gave it rave reviews. For three of us it was our first visit. We were there prior to attending the performance at Town Theatre. We were seated promptly upon arrival at 6 pm. There were tables next to us that were seated after us. Our orders were taken and our first course arrived promptly after our beverages of water and iced tea. The bacon wrapped scallops were wonderful. The ham and lentil soup was delicious but not hot. The salad sizes and types of lettuce on each salad were inconsistent. One salad at our table was almost twice as large as the smallest salad at the same table! The wait time for the main course was much too long. The tables next to ours whose orders were taken after ours, were served before us and finished before us. The waitress apologized several times for the long wait. The salmon over pasta was the best main course. The hen was fine, but the steaks were not. The waitress never asked how the steaks were to be cooked. One diner order her steak medium even though the waitress did not ask. Two of the three steaks were raw and still raw after being sent back to the kitchen. Brussel sprouts were replaced with a very small portion of cold green beans with the steak. The meal continued to get worse when we were told there were three dessert choices only to find the chocolate walnut pie no longer available. The carrot cake and the chocolate cake were both horrible. They were dry and crusty after having been cut and left sit. At $30 per person, which did not include any alcohol, this was not worth it. We may consider returning for lunch, but we will not return for dinner! We realize this is a training session for students, but we were very disappointed in the meal, especially the main course and the dessert. You...

I attended a private Wine tasting featuring Mira Wines from Napa. The charcuterie offered was a perfect selection for the 4 wines being evaluated and enjoyed. The dining room setting was perfect for 20 -25 guests. Tables were set up in a horseshoe for conversation and tasting engagement. Spectacular wines by Mira was the obvious star and purpose for the gathering. Very well crafted Burgundian style Chardonnay started the conversation, followed by Cab. Franc, Petit Verdot and Cab. Sauv. I highly recommend all for your future wine...
Read moreThis review is for McCutchen House’s summer Garden Grill, which is the grill outside of McCutchen House, put on by UofSC hospitality students. The grill always smells so good, stand in line on the brick path through the bushes, decide on a menu item (comes with a drink - lemonade, sweet or unsweet tea, or water), most items come with fruit (or double fruit) slice, pasta salad or chips for $12 plus tax. Ask for a card to get stamped at each visit. They also have gift certificates! This time we had burger (your choice of cheese and condiments) and 2 coney dog special. Really enjoy the pasta salad.
