It was difficult to find street parking, since Hibachi House does not have it's own parking lot. Once I found parking, walked in, took a look at the menu and decided what I wanted to order I got in line. A young man in front of me was placing an order, but when he finished signing for his order the cashier just walked away from the front counter, even though there was clearly a line (others were behind me by this point). It took about 2mins for me to get an employees attention, so that I could place my order. Not once did he ever make eye contact with me. I ordered a veggie tempura bento box, but was charged for a shrimp tempura bento box. It was 7:04pm when I placed my order.
I got my fountain drink and took a seat at the least greasy looking table I could find. Nine men who were in line BEHIND me got their food right away. Meanwhile myself and two other patient girls who were there before me were still waiting for our food. #MalePrivledge I finally got my food at 7:34pm (30mins after I had placed my walk-in order). And I noticed that one of the other girls who was there BEFORE me did not get her food until 7:50pm.😡
The food wasn't even good. When my food finally came out it had both veggies and shrimp in it (which wasn't a huge deal for me personally, but could have potentially made another customer sick, if they had been a vegetarian or allergic to shrimp).
When I took my first bite I quickly realized that the tempura had loose flour on the inside (I got a mouth full of it).😷 The sweet potato and broccoli were both hard, as if they were still raw with just the tempura batter lightly fried around them. And the mushroom and zucchini were both VERY slimy, as if they had gone bad days ago. The wasabi was crumbly like dried out play-doh and the rice was a bit dried out from being over cooked. The sushi, spring roll, and salad were all okay though.
I was not able to get the attention of any employees to correct my order, get a refund, or speak with a manager.
Overall, I was not impressed with the food or the customer service. I really hope it was just an off day for them. But as for me, I do not have any intentions of ever going back to this resturant and strongly encourage others to seek hibachi elsewhere.
This was by far one of the WORST experiences I have ever encountered at...
Read moreI have tried this place twice. The first time I got hibachi chicken and it was decent, but only decent, not exactly good. The wait time, about 20 minutes, seemed excessive considering it's a to-go-oriented place and I was only one of a couple of other people in there. Because they have this market cornered (fast food Asian) in this area, I decided to give it another try. And now I want my money back. I got the teriyaki chicken, and it was inedible. I'll admit I do not have low standards for chicken, however I don't expect fast food of this nature to be gourmet either. But, I do expect chicken to actually be chicken. This was all fat. Seriously, I found 2 chunks out of at least 10 that were actually chicken (and they were still greasy dark meat and still ~30% fat per chunk). So I did not eat my chicken.
The vegetables and rice were good, however I did not intend to pay $8 for vegetables and rice. And, it took 20 minutes to get my food. I almost wouldn't have minded the wait had the server seemed at all concerned about getting customers their food. But she didn't, and it seemed like the same thing last time. I saw lots of customers' food sit on the counter in the kitchen while she hung out in the back. The chef was awesome though, very efficient and quick.
The main point however is that even though this place is pretty cheap, the chicken + long wait + general invalidation of my existence by the staff make it not worth $8. Oh AND, it's especially not worth $8 when you consider that you can pay $8 at MCafe or MVista and get much much better food for their lunch special! That's what I'll...
Read moreThis place is extremely unreliable! I’ve been a customer here since I moved to Columbia in 2013 and each time I go it’s something different. Last night, I decided to stop in to grab some food on my way home. However, when I went to go in, they had a paper sign on the door saying “closing at 8.” WHEN THEY USUALLY CLOSE AT 10! It was 7:50 so I thought I might be good to grab something quick before they close since there wasn’t anyone standing in line. When I walked in, the lady said they had stopped taking orders and when I said it wasn’t closing time yet, she said they wanted to complete the orders they already had by 8. This is RIDICULOUS. How does a restaurant close 2 hours early for no reason? They’ve done this multiple times in the past and it really reflects on their terrible work ethic. I will never return to this establishment, I already know several people who have stopped eating here due to poor customer service. I have never in my life experienced a restaurant to close whenever they felt like it and not have steady...
