If you can afford to stay somewhere else, do so and save yourself the hassle. We stayed 3 nights only because I couldn’t afford to go anywhere else. The hotel is under MAJOR renovations so there is only 1 elevator working, and it is quite literally the slowest elevator in the world. I could have climbed the stairs faster. The housekeeping staff must have never been trained in what deep cleaning is cause our bathroom floor looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months! The tub was the same way, filthy is the only word I can come up with to describe it. The drain in the tub would not drain properly so we took showers in inch and a half of standing water. I complained MULTIPLE times about it and each time I was told it would be taken care of. It never was. The first night I complained, I was told that there was an email sent to the housekeeping supervisor and maintenance and that it should be taken care of in the morning, it was not done. We left for the day and came back to the room looking exactly how we left it. Nobody came to clean the room. I used a wet washcloth and cleaned a spot on the floor to show the front desk when I went down to complain for a second time, and a white washcloth turned black. When I went to the front desk to complain, she sent the maintenance guy to the room with “clean” towels and he was supposed to clean the floor. He came with the towels and a dirty wet mop and wiped the mop across the floor and called it clean. Right after he left I had Lysol wipes and got on my hands and knees and cleaned a spot and the floor was so dirty you could see my hand prints in the wipes that I used. Also, the supposed “clean” towels that he brought had hairs in them, and I’m not talking head hair. When I went down to the front desk AGAIN, I showed her the washcloth and the towels that were just brought to my room and I was given the excuse that “the floor and tub were not dirty, that they clean the rooms every day, and that it was just wear and tear from being old.” The excuse I got for the towels was that “sometimes they just get hung up in our dryers.” I was extremely upset so the next morning on our way out, I asked to speak with the general manager. I showed him the wipes I used that had my hand prints on them from cleaning their so called “clean” floor, and I told him about the excuses I got and the towels, and the drain, and I told him that I refuse to pay for a room where I and my other guests were taking a risk of getting MERSA and/or Staphylococcus because the housekeeping staff refuses to do their job properly. He told me he would comp me my first 2 nights and my parking fee and that he would personally make sure that housekeeping deep cleaned my room. We were gone for most of the morning, so housekeeping had PLENTY of time to do the job, they did not!!!! When I went down to let the GM know, he acted disappointed and told us that he would have them come in around 1 pm and clean and he would personally inspect the room. We left for about 2-3 hours and came back to no change in the bathroom, but the beds were made. On our way out to dinner we crossed paths with the GM, he asked how our room was, and I told him they did nothing but make the beds. When all was said and done, our whole trip was comped. I cannot emphasize enough if you can afford to stay somewhere else, please do so. This place is not worth the stay!!! Not to mention, once we got home, I noticed a cockroach in my kitchen. I am a pretty clean person and I have NEVER had roaches in my house!! I did NOT have roaches before this trip, I didn’t expect to have them when I got home!!! DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BRING HOME SOME EXTRA FRIENDS!!!!! I have been a Hilton fan for years and with my most recent stay, I’m feeling a bit let down and highly...
Read moreWe came to stay the night for a mini honeymoon. The room we selected via the Hilton honors app was not ready at 3pm, and we were told that we were going to have to wait past 3pm, nor.al check in time, to get even a different room that we did not want. After agreeing to change, we got to the room and wanted a coffee from the privacy of our own room. The machine was broken. Upon calling housekeeping, we were met with a very rude, "well, I didn't even know you were checked in." Not an okay, I'll get a new coffee pot. The same lady called us back two more times trying to figure out what happened the the staff. Granted we are a newlywed couple, and we're hoping to have privacy. She was rude each time, and we shouldn't have been bothered with the staff's error. We then had a knock on the door to tell us that they couldn't replace the coffee maker, and another to give us one from storage. The one they gave us had black mold where you pour the water into, and had a used coffee insert still left in it. We were grossed out and so irritated at this point. We could have had better service at a Motel 6. We were asked by a third phone call to come get keys that worked. We were let in by the janitor, after all, after our keys didn't work. When we swung by to get our new keys before dinner, I told the front desk assistant how disappointed we were in the lack of professionalism, not being able to check in on time, let alone get the room I wanted from choosing it the day prior on the Hilton app, and have been given a nasty, used coffee pot. It was met with another rude response, saying that she had x number of checkouts that day, not an apology or offer to improve the situation. This is the second poor experience with the Hilton Chain in less than a year. I have been booking with Hilton for over 10 years now, despite having just become a member, and do not intend on another stay unless this remedied. It could have been easily remedied when we were there, but it wasn't. We left before 8am frustrated with the whole experience, choosing to go pay for a simple breakfast instead of enjoying the complimentary one that was included. I would appreciate financial...
Read moreOn the very first night, there was a very scary situation with a domestic violence situation going on next door. We immediately called the police once we heard screams and we advised front desk right away. Amy was working the front alone in the middle of the night and was still able to speak to us in a calm and professional manner during the fiasco. When police arrived, she got us a new room and hand wrote us an apology letter for what we went through and also gifted us some snacks for our kids and a couple gifts cards! I did not expect anything from it at all so it was really sweet to me! I am seriously in love with the staff! Not only from the way Amy handled everything, but can I also talk about Mr. Earl?! Mr. Earl would bust out his harmonica and sing to my toddlers, which I have 3 kids and all are 4 and under. He was soo sweet and would always speak to us and would wish us a good day! Every morning we would have breakfast in the dining area and we were always welcomed with smiles and good mornings! Alicia (sorry if your name is spelled wrong) but she particularly would ask how we slept compared to the first night since she was aware of what we went through. She was really nice, full of smiles and she also complimented my pjs lol Ms. Charlene was a darling and her smile was sweet and she spoke to us too. Honestly everyone we encountered was nice and I literally cried on the last day because usually I feel like most hotel staff from other hotels are all grumpy or look like they are tapped out and no longer want to work there. I had such a wonderful experience and we would definitely stay here again if we are ever back in South Carolina. Bravo to whoever does the hiring here because you guys literally have the best staff!! :)
Now aside from the staff, the rooms are a little dated, but clean and it’s in a great location! It’s next door to a bunch of restaurants, bars, the expo center, and kid friendly places like EdVenture, the State Museum, and the Zoo! Main Street isn’t far and there’s also a happy hour at the hotel!
Great spot and the most wonderful staff!! Thank you to everyone who made our trip, just that much...
